    Song vs. Song

    The greatest vs the grants
  3. ok but this copycat video press lana shirt outsells the ldrvillage stuff by miles: https://copycatvideopress.bigcartel.com/product/lana-del-ray-long-sleeve-t-shirt
  4. If you’re a podcast person the excellent and v funny podcast Like a Virgin just released their Lana ep!
  5. I wouldn’t exactly say a role model, but she inspires me to find the beautiful moments in small, everyday bits of life and to be present in order to better connect to the psycho experience of being a mortal on this planet I
  6. caved and got a one day ticket to see her at roadburn– SO excited to hear MIMA songs live debut!
  7. In the rolling stone uk interview- but I think she meant “not good” as in it’s not the kind of gorgeous melody she’d traditionally write- ie not good by pop music standards. I think the song is obviously very close to her heart, but the song-ness of it is less important than the words and storytelling.
  8. i'm having a similar experience, and also having trouble putting my fingers on what exactly is missing for me. honestly i'm over the "hitting back at the critics" stuff– she is more successful that ever and SO adored by fans, and while she can obviously sing about whatever she wants those sentiments aren't connecting with me personally, and feel like retreading old ground at this point (even though she hasn't sung about it, she's talked about it A LOT since QFTC). with the exception of a&w and title track i'm not feeling a huge emotional connection to the songs/lyrics that way i did with COCC, for example, which i think is probably the primary reason i'm having a harder time connecting with the songs. i think the album is excellent but i that i'm just not emotionally in tune with whatever trip is lana is on with this album which is fine! i still enjoy listening and think it will prob grow on me with time as i create my own emotional bonds with the songs and where my life is at atm. for me this, right now, this album fits into my ranking like so: COCC > UV=HM=NFR > DYKTATUOB > BB > LFL > Paradise > BTD. while i love some of the songs on BB more than most of the songs on DYK, the BB songs I really love are the older songs and i still have trouble thinking of them as BB songs rather than outtakes from previous eras.
  9. u DESERVE congrats queen
  10. yes of course, clocked it on first listen and love it all the nods to NFR make so much sense, since it was the record that imo really full scale got her the critical respect she’d deserved since the beginning of her career. Sampling it all over this album, which is full of commentary on her public/media perception, is so clever and classic Lana.
  11. Apparently an LDR taco truck in London today: https://www.instagram.com/p/CqK-rLmO3-A/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

    Song vs. Song

    candy necklace vs. paris, texas
  13. this font is so gorgeous!! v art nouveau to stay on topic: listening to the official version for the first time now, the other instruments on the songs are so much clearer and richer, heavenly
  14. Couldn’t do a track by track ranking yet but so far: loves: the grants, a&w, candy necklace, Fingertips, grandfather, paris Texas, Margaret (even tho jacks verse is meh) likes: title track, Sweet, kintsugi, fishtail, let the light in ambivalent: peppers, taco truck (neither are bad they just don’t hit for me, at least as of yet) nopes: Judah smith interlude, Jon batiste interlude (these will not be on the version of the album I make for myself on streaming, I get the vibes but no replay value for me)
  15. My green indie shipped Monday and I cancelled my Amazon order today bc now I know I def like the green better than the fuschia- thrilled to save $40! And I really don’t need multiple copies (not that kind of collector).
  16. Ok indie green vinyl is SO pretty, thought it’d be more sage green like COCC UO variant but here it looks almost teal, gorgeous! See first and second slides: https://www.instagram.com/p/CqGNrleoBx7/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
