I see this on Genuis but don't think I've seen it on here but she definitely says: "playing games of levitation" which kinda goes with this witch thing she has going. I think the video clips of her and her friends meditating on the rock will go with this song.

"Echoes" is now officially my favorite song of all time      all 23 minutes of it

This is one of my favorite of the new unreleased tracks. Its beautiful and sad and so.. real? I also always thought her living in Alabama was some fantasy bullshit but now I just don't know. Not that she couldn't have still made this up, but I feel like this gives the story more credibility. I don't know, I just really really love this.

This is so cool! I was meaning to make something like this for Sirens but just been too busy, I'm glad someone picked it up and did something I'll have to make one so my Lana collection will be complete! lolnever

Have you printed it yourself yet to see how it is?

@@PinUpCartoonBaby done and yeah I've had thoughts about whether I should nuke this whole thread or not. It was a fun guide to make but I just.. well I don't want to be disrespectful to Lana. I know she supposedly has been given one of these booklets but I don't know how she felt about it.

Sorry for the monologue, just now that I'm trying to be an artist myself I guess I just think about these things a bit differently.

I found Mazzy Star through a thread asking if there were any singers like Lana, so similar. I really fell in love when I heard Into Dust. I cried the first time I listened to it and I think its the most beautiful song.
  10. bluechemtrails liked a post in a topic by Anthem in Mazzy Star
Mazzy Star is an alternative/indie rock band with many psychedelic and dreamy elements to them. They made most of their music in the 90s but last year also released a record that pretty much picks right back up where they left off. Lots of people believe that lead singer Hope Sandoval and Lana have similar voices when compared to songs where Lana sings higher (i.e. May Jailer). I know most people here listen only to other pop artists, but if you have a taste for beautiful low-key acoustic music, Mazzy Star is probably for you.

Mazzy Star's most famous song is Fade Into You, a big hit in the 90s.

I'm posting their next most famous song (Into Dust) because it is absolutely beautiful and also happens to be my favorite song, period.

The title track from last year's album, Seasons of Your Day, is another exceptional song and personal favorite.

And as a bonus, if you are a fan of the show Rick and Morty you might remember this song over one episode's end credits

Really interesting demo lyrics in the context of some of the other lyrics on Paradise!

I like "just drive" better personally and how it sounds in the song, but I think "just ride" ended up fitting the song/narrative she was getting at more because being along for the ride is more passive/carefree which I think fits the video a lot where she is just a little aimless and taking life as it comes.

I refuse to hear Lana pronounce Arkansas like that so in my head its "our Kansas".

  16. Phenomena liked a post in a topic by Anthem in Music (& stuff) people like that you tried to get into, but can’t
Almost every artist I've tried to get in to. :/ I have such a particular taste. I sometimes try looking up the artists I see on this forum or click around Spotify's "similar artists" thing but with no luck. Its just weird because I obviously have some taste overlap with people here, I like Lana and Marina, but beyond that I can't get into any of the artists that are popular here or on MB beyond maybe 1-3 songs form someone here or there. And those disappear in a few weeks/months whereas Lana and Marina and a few others I have listened to for years.

I love it! I thought it was ft. Lana not a purely Lana song. I hope this is the direction she is moving towards!

"Was I wrong to go on like a little fool?
It's amazing what women in love will do"

Sounds like Lana has been back on a Wicked Game kick.

"Strange what desire will make foolish people do"

This song sounds amazing though tbh. I like the lyrics so far but the melody and production... this is one I'm gonna have on repeat for months.

I don't think that's too fair - more like a step sideways from BTD/P, which I don't consider backwards from UV. Lyrically, its a little worn down because we have the sugar-daddy theme but the chorus has at least improved from "I'm a sad girl"x6. I think the production and just atmosphere of the song is spot on though, it really gives me the same vibe I've been feeling for the new album, but she could still surprise us. Its definitely no Video Games, or any other single from BTD, as far a replay value, but I think its pretty nice and I like it better than BE and ICF.
  25. Anthem liked a post in a topic by Venice Jesus Whore in Chemtrails Over the Country Club - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
I definitely think 81 is a better score. NFR is significantly better to me. To me, NFR is absolutely no skips and pretty much a perfect album. Venice Bitch, Happiness is a Butterfly, and Bartender each, on their own, blow away anything on Chemtrails except maybe Tulsa Jesus Freak and Breaking Up Slowly for me.

Even though I enjoy the melodies and harmonies, Not All Who Wander Are Lost is the most uninspired I've seen Lana in her lyrics. I also enjoy Wild at Heart, but the fact that she basically reused the production of How to Disappear also ruined it a bit for me.

Even though Chemtrails has grown on me, I'm having a really hard time connecting with it - which is a problem I've never had with any Lana album. Even Sirens, I connect more with, so it's not even like I can theorize that it might just be the stripped down production not doing it for me. I recognize objectively that COTCC is good, mature, and more refined then a good amount of her past work, but something about it just isn't clicking.

Lana's music has always felt custom made for me, but COTCC felt like when I listened to folklore and I was like "I can see why people like this, and I might like a bit of it, but this just isn't really my thing. Objectively, it's good, but it's not for me." I've NEVER felt that way about Lana's albums and it's lowkey driving me a bit mad that I feel this way about Chemtrails.
