I second this. As much as I miss beats, I also meets huge orchestral productions ala Ride, Born to Die and Young and Beautiful.
 
Like, if you're gonna do a ballad, do it right. None of that minimalist Sweet stuff.
 
That being said, OCEAN BOULEVARD's PRODUCTION (title track) SLAYED BEYOND REASON.

every lana song starts off as just a piano demo relax everyone

i don't want btd style bops, i think that'd be backsliding and ridiculous with where she is in her career but i do want more upbeat songs like ltli or peppers, i am getting tired of the wordy piano ballads that lack the catchiness and pop sensibilities of her early work. i appreciate them, the songwriting is absolutely gorgeous but they're not what i seek out with lana

That's my main point. Too many ballads churned out. I don't necessarily need these songs to sound like Summertime Sadness or Blue Jeans. But why not songs like Cola, Doin' Time, High By the Beach, West Coast, Gods and Monsters, Ride, even Cherry or Love... Songs with OOMPH to them, that aren't just laser-focused on the piano and melancholy lyrics.
 
Lana was more multi-faceted earlier, that's for sure.

even though we know there will definitely be piano on this album (there literally has never been a lana album without piano ) i'm pretty sure lana always starts her songs with either piano/acoustic guitar when writing so i don't really think it means anything either way. 

ya tbh i think the last time i was that excited for a lana release was nfr  i hope she saw how good the reception was for a&w and felt more inspired to step out of her comfort zone, i remember in an interview she said she didn't even want to release it as a single because she thought it was too weird, but her friends loved it so she did, and it was probably her most well-loved single release since mariners and venice bitch lol

A&W had that shocking effect that I've missed from some of her latest releases 
I think that she should just experiment a bit more and get out of her current comfort zone

I'm just kind of done with "lowkey" style music. I don't want mellow trap bops, I don't want phoned in piano ballads, I don't want simplicity like Paris, Texas either. I LOVE ballads and piano if done dynamically, like Grandfather. Give us DRAMA like the first half of A&W. I want her to go dark, no matter what the instrumental backing is. Of course I'd love some UV style grit but I don't think it's likely... though surely she'll get bored of the mellow piano ballad style soon enough

I will never understand why people still want Lana to be a popstar. She has always referred to herself as a poet and she's been developing such an expansive story her entire career, constantly building upon what came before in creative and thought-provoking ways. Her output is astonishing and every single album is very much a part of the journey she is on. She is one of the few artists who is continuously at the top of her game in my opinion and I am so grateful that she doesn't listen to the noise. Nobody does it like her.
 
Everyone is entitled to their opinions but stop pretending Lana is doing something wrong just because you don't personally resonate with her latest music. She's not making it for you, she's making it for herself and the legacy that she wants to build, and it's clearly working for a lot of people as she's never been more popular. Truly a living legend. 
 
I personally think she has a ton of twists and turns left in her, her creativity hasn't wavered at all and she will always find a way to surprise in her own unique way. I can't wait to see what comes next!

You’re quoting known shitty users/trolls (which you used to be known as one until you decided you like Ocean Blvd and now you’re annoying but in a different way) All the person being quoted before (who I was defending, I’m not defending stupid users like @barttttender @Xenoblade 3) did was say they thought it would be interesting if Lana explored a sound like Midnights and that they wished she would do a different type of piano ballad. Don’t passively aggressively comment on an argument from an hour ago if you’re just going to use examples that have nothing to do with what I said thanks!
 
Also I find it so weird you’re even commenting on this considering all you used to do is shit on Lana and praise Jack as god, and were routinely shit on by other users.

Unless someones opinion is something stupid the I don't think anyone is not a "real fan" for wanting certain sounds. Lana literally put out 4 "bops" in the last album, I don't think anything is off the table yet.

Anyway im still sad and bitter about my blue BTD order getting cancelled and now im on the hunt for a new vinyl to order in its place 

I ordered 4 of them from the USA store. One to open and play, one to collect and the other two as prizes at the pinball tournaments I run. Sadly, all four of them have corner damage to their jackets. I can see where the shipping box has VERY slight damage at the same corner that the the records' jackets got bent. They're using decent boxes, but the box itself says that it's rated to fit up to 5-6 LPs. Since these are double LPs, it's about the same size and especially weight of 8 LPs. They either need bigger, stronger boxes or stop trying to stuff too much into just one box! I emailed them the day they arrived (July 12th) and zero reply. I emailed again, yesterday and still nothing. I'm REALLY worried about the 4 re-pressings of the limited Ultraviolence records that I have on pre-order.
