Caring about chart placement isn’t a bad thing btw, almost every artist does 
 
big chart placements do help, it’s basically free marketing and advertisement. If an album debuts at 20, people aren’t going to see it in headlines! If it debuts at 1/2, people (who may not have listened to it otherwise) will be like “woah! this album charted at #1, it must be good, i should give it a listen!”
 
Also, streams are NOT where the money is, do you know how little artists make from every stream?
 
Also I think she keeps mentioning it to try to persuade them to get behind it, not because they already are

perhaps it's supposed to be a total surprise and all of the stores carrying the albums have them locked away in a very secure safe!
 

It’s not coming on the 9th. Target would have the record on their shelves by now
