Lana has been deliberately separating herself from the mainstream pop scenery since 2018. I think it's time for people to stop thinking that she's gonna be back there -seems impossible at all after BB, but let's see-. Imagine thinking Fiona Apple could be back to making conventional, easy to hear melodies after The Idler Wheel. Na, just not that feasible -as it showed on FTBC-. I think that Lana is going through a simmilar road right now. She's evolved a lot since BTD days and I just cant picture her making commercially friendly music again.

Having said that i love when Lana goes pop and im still convinced she's gonna do another lust for life which im so here for but im just saying bells and whistles girl. Also calling an outfit negligent is so funny im stealing that

Mary.. all of those things you list are just smoke and mirrors tactics that people with no real talent depend on to make you believe they're world class musicians. Lana is on another level now. Anyone with enough money behind them can make a chart topping song and wear designer in a high budget music video and people fall for it every time when really theyre just serving Mcdonalds music. Look what happened to Justin Bieber. If i heard Blue banisters playing over Kmart speakers I would k*** ******

I love how If You Lie Down With Me starts with "baby wants a dance, baby gets her way" and then the song ends with this beautiful long instrumental where you can just picture someone dancing Lana around the room like she asked him to

F*ntano’s review was mostly valid, even though i disagree with him. He acknowledged that there were really solid songs and highlights on the album, which he thought were marred by her dedication to the “one take” aesthetic— not an insanely biased take by any measure.
I also find it interesting that so many people find this album to be “breaking the rules”, when so many hooks of the songs on this album just consist of one word or phrase sung three times, or just too much repetition for my taste in general.
Hes wrong abt dealer tho, if anything is wrong with it, its the hollow production.
Idk i was hoping for another 7 from him but i understand.
I also wanna clarify that even with my issues with the album, i still love it and its in my top 3.

See im not sure his problem was with jer experimenting, but that the quality and execution wasnt good enough for him. a valid take, one i happen to disagree with, but it seems like people are putting words in his mouth sometimes. at least with this specific review.

His review was basically this like, he acknowledged that she experimented more on this record but he didn’t like the execution. Tbh I don’t find the review (his explanation, not the grade) to be that irrational. I obviously disagree with what he said about dealer, but I do get the BBS criticism for example and I agree with what he considered to be some of the album highlights.
