listening to Clown in a Cornfield audio book. plays out like a teen slasher with a pretty wild twist!! very fun and perfect for Halloween season

I read that! Was really enjoyable lol. Def good spooky season read.

Also recently read Final Girls by Riley Sager. It’s kind of slasher/psychological thriller. Worth a check out.

Another spooky read I’d recommend if you’re into more classical/gothic literature is Mexican Gothic. Omgggggg so good. I’d consider it one of my top reads of the year. Mysterious, dark, sexy. Loved it.

Alright, so this poem also seems to be about her mother...? At least thats how I am interpreting now after her Mother's Day post and considering the content of LA Who Am I To Love You:

    "Secrets about [...] mother"
So Lana is alluding to something noone knows about her mum

Then, "all of the people you meet on the street will reiterate lies that she uttered", meaning her mum might have told others something Lana considers untrue.

Lana is experiencing nightmares, waking up "late at night", with "tiny beads of sweat dot[ting her] forehead", after dreaming of escaping to the island of Catalina

"But alas, this is a real life - and it's been a real fight just to keep my mind from committing treason"
You can only commit treason to someone who trusts you, so it must be someone close to Lana - and again, it is a woman, because in the next paragraph, she says "She told the townspeople i was crazy"
Lana grew up in the small town of Lake Placid, and I interpret this as Patty telling everyone lies to hide Lana's alcoholism which lead to her going to boarding school?
Now, the "treason" might be to just spill everything about their relationship. Lana has said in the past she can't talk about some stuff as long as some people are still alive.

"i've gone scorched earth" aka Lana's life has been hell
"Would standing in front of Mt Rushmore feel like the great American homecoming I've never had?"
Could this mean Lana's mum has never been proud of her, or her achievements?

And then, "Would the magnitude [...] take the place of the warm embrace I've never known?"
So it seems Lana is not coming from a very loving family.

The poem then ends with Lana preparing dinner, giving us insight in what's going through her head when she is alone.

Yes, I bet she felt ashamed of herself when she was sent to boarding school. This part from Bare Feet on Linoleum made me so sad for her:

Going back home after boarding school must've felt terrible, she felt like she had no family after what they've done to her. It's like parents sending their kids straight to a therapist instead of trying to help them themselves first. She had to find warmth in the unknown, in the vast, in the outside, far away from home.
  13. MorriganKinsley liked a post in a topic by rubytuesday in Speculations on Lana's relationship with her mother
I think she had a strenuous relationship with her mother for most of her life "My Momma" but something happened and there was a big rift in the past year or two. The sudden significant referencing of being Motherless, growing up without love recently online and in Violet indicates it's a new, recent wound. Or the opening of an old one from childhood. I'd imagine being sent away to boarding school when you're going through something (I mostly believe she was just partying a bit too much and her parents wanted to curb her behaviour and thought it was a good school because she was musically gifted) feels like an abandonment age 15.

And from pure speculation not based in much, I feel like they didn't get along because her mother was emotionally unavailable. The reference to her mothers glamour etc always seemed a lot colder, more aloof than her mentioning of her father. And it would make sense if there really was a short time when she didn't speak to her parents that her father might have been more eager to apologise/re-connect.

OMG I know this is a reach but if Lana made a reference to buffy the vampire slayer I'd die

Look, at least it's not one of those god awful home videos she's been releasing for the last album. I don't know what in god's name vampires has to do with the song but I'm gonna try and be open minded about it. lol
This puts me in a True Blood mood.

It's obvious that Lana wants a family but the thing is... I don't think she'll ever find a good man to start a family with especially taking into consideration her taste in men...

Welcome to LANALYSIS, where we get real unhealthy in our obsessions and absolutely revel in it.

This is a project I've been maintaining for a while now--Lana + Analysis...get it? The basic purpose is to relate every one of her songs (that's right, every last one of them) to her known and assumed relationships. Not a stone is left unturned. Privacy is violated. The fans rejoice. Mind you, it’s all pure speculation, but ~this is what makes us stans~

It’s pretty long but an interesting read, if I do say so myself. I hope you enjoy it in all it’s updated glory, and I will continue to update as new information is revealed and new songs come out. I will also be adding pictures, sources, etc. Stay tuned!

    Let’s get started!

    EARLY RELATIONSHIPS (1985 - ~2005)

    LOCAL ROCKSTARS (~2005 - 2009)

YOU MADE ME NICE FOR A WHILE (2009 - 2011)

    POST-BREAKTHROUGH (2011+)

    IN THE LAND OF DISCREPANCIES

    ADVANCED LANALYSIS

    IN SUMMARY..

    Lingering questions…
    - Who the fuck is K?
    - Who the fuck is Ray?
    - Who the fuck is Bill? Is Bill really K? Does Bill matter at all?
    - What significance do cars play? She mentions eight in total (white Corvette, white Pontiac, blue Chevy Nova/Chevrolet, Cadillac convertible, Mercedes, pickup truck, Lamborghini, Bugatti Veyron)
    - When was she/who was she with in New York City and New Jersey? Ditto LA? Most mysterious and pressing, her time in the South?
    - Did she have a fling with Bradley Soileau?
    - Did Chris C. matter enough to her for her to write songs about him?

    Assumptions Made:
    - Lana was a gogo dancer.
    - K is a drug dealer/murderer, dead or on death row.
    - Jimmy is her ex-fiancé, addicted to cocaine despite a Wikipedia page stressing how healthy he is, associated with Chevrolets.
    - Much of Sirens is about completely different relationships.
    - She fucked Bradley.
    - Mike controlled her career but their relationship wasn’t associated with anything fucked up like drugs or stripping.

Thanks for reading! I crave both your feedback and theories! This remains a forum collaboration and I don't claim to have the final say on Lanalytical manners.

For the sake of believability, I'm always hunting receipts, and currently:
    - The interview where she refers to "Yayo" as the prequel to "Video Games"
    - The interview where she describes "Video Games" as dealing with mutual sobriety in a relationship--her and her partner both staying clean.
    - The interview where she talks about meeting her boyfriend in rehab and being dazzled by his small-scale celebrity.

Sorry but Joni never gave up her child to stay in the music business. She didn’t even start performing or writing music til she was pregnant and it was to make extra money for food because she was— wait for it— pregnant. She had no choice but to give up her child because she had no money or husband and in those days public shaming was a thing. Originally she married Chuck Mitchell so they could adopt her child but then he changed his mind and said he didn’t want to raise another man’s baby, so they got divorced and she started her career. She even said about it “if you make a good marriage, God bless you. If you make a bad marriage, become a philosopher.” That’s what she did, not the other way around. And she said it killed her when she made her fortune because she could finally afford her daughter and it was too late, she had a family. She even said not having her child was the big hole in her life that she tried to fill with songwriting and after she finally reunited with her daughter, her muse went away. She admitted she lost all her inspiration because it was just to fill a void. Yes her art is beautiful and I wouldn’t have wanted an alternate reality without it, but it’s just plain false to claim she chose her career over her child.

I mean kids are such a personal decision, but if she wants to have them then I just hope she has them with someone hinged. I feel like it'd really affect her if she had a kid to some dude and it ended up like a Britney/Kevin Federline situation or something

That's because it's a fact that female artists DO slow down once one of those little brats come into the picture. lol
It's the woman who's doing all the carrying around, pain, weight gain and all the other suffering that comes when having babies. Not the man. This is why many female's in music who have babies take a few years to come back on stage (Kelly, Gwen and Adele are a few examples) and the males in the music biz (Jack White, Neil Young and Eddie Vedder are examples ) can jump on stage any time they want. Men are not the one carrying 50 extra pounds with 10 pounds worth of milk in each tit. Stevie Nicks has spoken about this for 40 plus years in her interviews. She chose her career over having children. She knew once she had a child, her career would be over for her. She has no regrets choosing music over having kids. This is coming straight from Nicks' mouth.
Another one - Joni Mitchell. She had a kid and gave it up for adoption in order to stay in the music business. She never had any other kids. Joni and the kid she gave up for adoption later reunited very well into the kid's adulthood. By all accounts they are "friends" but that's all.
Then there's Beyonce with 3 kids and her career is intact. It also helps that Beyonce has that 'fire', ambition and drive. She worked her ass off to get on that historical Coachella stage. The same with Jlo and Gwen.
It really depends on each woman.
Seeing how Lana's effort for her music career has drastically waned (zero effort on stage, doesn't sing live, dresses like a slob, doesn't care...etc) I think the moment she has a kid, she'll be done with her music career. I can picture her releasing albums and that's about it. Maybe even write songs for other singers and releasing more poetry books etc. Lana is lazy as fuck and doesn't have the same drive Jlo and Beyonce has. No fire. No fucks given. Add a kid in the picture, she'll never leave the house. Someone would need to physically force her out to buy groceries. lol
