exactly — the beat is harsh, it trips over itself, and it feels purposeful, especially with the screaming part. it’s like being trapped in a nightmare kinda reminds me of climax (horror movie) 😭 especially because of the way the song is split into two parts and how the second part devolves into insanity

i hear maimed but i assume it’s ambiguous purposefully

does she say “surf’s up!” around 6:34 because i’m obsessed with that

the second half of A&W has so many callbacks... the beat reminds me of the BTD title track beat... the man sound thing reminds me of BTD... the strings that reminds me of NFR title track and BTD title track, the baby voice, jimmy, the overall channeling of 2010-2012 energy, it's like she's taking that version of herself and twisting it on its head, iconic!

her mojo magazine story was officially their april issue, but it was actually released in the beginning of february iirc! i think your point still stands, this feels like an era so i think it'll be all about ocean blvd (or at least somewhat related) especially if they're preparing for it now ... maybe we'll even get the interview/photos prior to april

i understand and am okay with her not wanting to do promotion but sometimes it feels really at odds with her desire to “tell her story her way” — doing things like making music videos to complete the artistic vision and doing interviews to share her thoughts would really help with that. she’s had her words twisted in interviews before so releasing audio commentary like with UV or even just posting instagram captions/holding livestreams would be a great way for her to express how she feels about her work and the ideas and intentions behind it … i miss being able to see into the window of her mind while she was making the album, the W magazine was great for that, and i really hope there are good interviews in the upcoming articles!! ocean blvd seems so special and being able to read about her/her mindset in this moment is such a special thing that really enriches the album for me

it feels like a reference to boudoir photography and old hollywood! very classic referential lana it's also interesting thematically to think about, since boudoir photos are often taken to be looked at by others, it's very intentionally voyeuristic, which makes me really think about the meaning of the visuals... it also reminds me a lot of her maxim photoshoot in 2015 with neil as well, which referenced boudoir/actress photos – anyways i'll stop with the needlessly long posts now! but the themes of sexuality voyeurism and fame definitely come through in the photoshoot and i think the onlyfans post could definitely have been a tease (intentional or not)
