I have loved Smokie, The Bee Gees, Abba, The Walker Brothers (best group ever!!), Tony Christie, Albert Hammond, THE King of Rock’n’Roll Roy Orbison (and we all know it’s not Elvis), Jim Reeves, Scott McKenzie, The Eagles, Gene Pitney, Joe Dolan, Billie Jo Spears, The Monkees.

But my absolute favorite human is Billy Joe Royal. He was cute af, his music is timeless and I can completely get lost in it.
    I love him so much…

people saying 1989 isn’t beachy and taylor is changing the aesthetic  y’all new york is a STATE. a state full of islands such as long island, fire island, etc. new york city itself is built on islands…staten island and manhattan are full islands, brooklyn, queens, and the bronx have islands in them.

1989 has always been a love letter to new york as a whole. and ny can look like this:

her iconic beach photoshoot during the 1989 era:

people are so confused over the beach aesthetic because they think beach = california warm summer palm trees…but from the pictures i posted, you can see that the beaches are cool, blue, and very east coast. it’s so 1989. some tracks match a nyc glamorous vibe, but most tracks match the island vibe. the only songs that stand out to me as being super “bright lights nyc” is welcome to new york and new romantics. the rest of the album can honestly be rich bitch in hamptons.

also people are acting like the music videos showed times square, skyscrapers, clubbing in the city…those were never the visuals.

out of the woods and style music videos were filmed on beaches with visuals of ocean waves and woodlands, plus have a cold aesthetic of snow, rain, and lightning.
    style:
    ootw:
the blank space music video was filmed in long island mansions. wildest dreams was filmed in a damn safari, full of sand. bad blood is the only nyc music video. again 1989 is the entirety of new york and not just one area.

    tweets like this irk me

like i get where y’all are coming from but i feel like the pop songs are what give you “nyc” vibes, the visuals have never been just nyc however.

    1989 era tay:

Last night, Lana Del Rey stopped to meet Elle while shopping at Dillard’s in Huntsville, Alabama.
(yes, im aware there’s already a thread for this outing, but let me have my moment. & yes, I added a ton of the built-in IG filters to our selfie bc I had literally been sleeping in the car shortly before this and hadn’t touched up my makeup because I did NOT expect this to happen.)

I know her audience is generaly pretty young so they link her pop/rock sound to Avril mostly. But I can't be the only one feeling a lot of Courtney Love's (Hole) influence on her. And I don't mean exactly in the sound, but in the aesthetic, the general riot girl punk philosophy... She took a lot of inspo from Live Through This for the Sour era. I really like it though as a big fan of 90's grunge!!! Hopefully she keeps reinventing that aesthetic, she's definitely on the right path.

No idea if it’s any good but Barnes and Noble has signed copies so I ordered one because why not

Love the tourposter and the fact it‘s an arena tour. The Sour tour was sold out so fast as she only played small venues at least in Europe.

I wish Avril‘s 2nd (UMS seems to be a fan favorite but it’s my least fav from her) or 3rd album would have sounded so good. I can hear Avril a bit on track 1, 5, 8 and 9. But to be honest: Olivia already acts and sounds more grown up than Avril has ever done.

(And I don‘t know what people expect: that Olivia creates anything new in music when every single note or accord have been played already and every melody and harmony have been sung? Guys!!)

Favs: Spinnin / Ryder / At your worst

Great album especially now for the cold months coming. Could be easily the soundtrack for a fairytale movie. 🍁🍂🍃🌲🌳🧌🧚‍♂️

I swear I posted in here ages ago but apparently not. My grandad loved 2 Tina turner songs, proud Mary and his favourite song was the best. I listen to them sometimes when I think of him
