I was listening to ivy yesterday, all the way through, for the first time in a while, and damn! It may be her most well written song to date, in my opinion. The (2!!) bridges are immaculate and her vocals are so good  "Crescent moon, coast is clear, spring breaks loose, but so does fear, he's gonna burn this house to the ground" now THOSE are some lyrics that could cut glass  I hope her writing is as good on TTPD, she promised us songwriting and we better get it!

Im glad Cigarettes After Sex is releasing a new album in July to get my mind away from Lana because right now, Lasso seems so far away  Although we know pretty much nothing, I kinda wish she’d have said nothing other than « Jack and I are recording new songs ».

    1. A LOT of people cared about Palestine. Some since its (Israel's) founding as an ethnostate and some over the past few decades of Israel stomping on Palestine's neck.
    2. You don't need to be "permanently online" to know about this conflict
    3. Nobody is expecting celebrities to END the war, what we're expecting is that they don't do things to further the Zionist agenda along AND don't try and benefit monetarily from an ethnostate. Also celebrities contributed to the end of the South African apartheid regime. (They didn't bring it about on their own and people in South Africa did much of the work, but celebs brought the cruelty of that regime to the world.)

I feel like we give Nikki Lane too much shit. Like the vibes and artistry this woman can create is immaculate. Take this song for instance (pls listen).  She will most likely be on the album and honestly im seated.

Something similar to Queen of the Gas Station would be amazing

I had a dream last night that Greg Kurstin (songwriter/producer who worked on Money Power Glory) posted a 30-second Instagram story of his laptop playing a music video for a song from Lasso. He wrote something like “Lasso - LDR coming in September, video dropping on Halloween” and tagged Rick Nowels. There was also a date stamped May 30th, 2023, presumably when the video was filmed (irl, Lana was in Brazil at this time.) The music video was of Lana and her friend Val in a haunted house(?) with heavy smoke and green lighting. The song featured country-style lyrics but did not sound like a country song at all. It had heavy hip-hop/trap beats and the vocals were a talking/rap style like Lana did in the first verse of Summer Bummer.
Everyone on LanaBoards and socials was really confused about what this meant for the album, and if Lasso was really going to be considered a country album aside from the lyrics. Some people were really happy about this but others were quite upset. In general, there were pretty mixed thoughts on the song snippet. Some loved it, some hated it. People were predicting Lasso would be a Lust for Life 2.0 lol.
Anyway, just thought I’d share! In the past, certain elements of my LDR dreams I have sometimes come true, so… we’ll see loool x

Henry, come on sounds just like a typical Lana song with some country inspiration like the acoustic guitar and lyrics, other than that the melody and structure screams alt/pop

not entirely lana-related or anything too significant or crazy, but interesting nonetheless...

so, yesterday, i found myself curious about steven mertens' music, so i decided to search him on youtube, not much came up, one song called on ice which i didn't find too interesting honestly, and a music video for a song called no roof, now, if you watch the music video and listen to the lyrics (they're kind of hard to understand honestly ) it may seem familiar to you...

it features a girl wearing a wig walking around new york, the beach, and coney island, and not only that, but steven mertens sings the line lookin' like a calendar kitten which obviously she mentions in boarding school, now, you may look at the upload date (march 2nd, 2013) and assume it's a song he wrote about her, but if you look at the youtube channel which uploaded it, you'll see they also previously uploaded it on january 26, 2007, and i'm going to assume they didn't know each other yet, and even if they did, it was before she took on the coney island/new york/kitschy americana aesthetic around late 2007/early 2008, perhaps she took some inspiration from steven mertens' song and video because it's very lizzy-esque and this wasn't even her aesthetic at the time

you can also see the original 2007 upload on a screenshot of his old myspace

what led me to finding this in the first place was finding out (and realizing i was correct about) steven mertens was the guitarist at her october 22, 2009 show at canal room, by reading the information section on the thread about it in the early shows section

i'm actually really surprised to find out he still worked with lana past 2007, i suppose i always assumed they only really worked together in 2007 and never really did past that, but i suppose i was wrong and he played at her shows at the least... it really seems like the more i know, the less i know! steven mertens performing a song mentioning calendar kitten while an old song of his featuring a girl in a wig frolicking around coney island and the beach also mentions it... it's literally all connected...

i’m pro boycotting but mcdonalds (or starbucks) isn’t even on the formal bds list, it was an unorganized organic boycott so it’s not THAT big a deal although the optics of it are disappointing. https://bdsmovement.net/Act-Now-Against-These-Companies-Profiting-From-Genocide
