This is dumb. I like Courtney and had the good fortune to see her at the Hollywood Bowl with Lana. Unfortunately she is still stuck in high school. The web says she's 59! Almost my age. When I was in high school it wasn't "cool" to like John Denver. Now I can appreciate so many of his songs. Brilliant songwriter. She makes her statement like a high school kid. "I can't believe you covered John Denver!"
We're way past the point of Lana needing someone's stamp of approval. 

Imagine if Lana heard about this and still had her Twitter account, if she’d start beefing with Courtney and we’d all see it go down in real time and watch Lana win. 

Not a huge fan of the Denver cover either, which seemed like a reverential payback for name-dropping his (other?) song on the Grants (why didn't she cover that one?). What's weird about the whole thing, is that I don't recall LDR releasing stuff later than the cover, so what CL says can't be about LDR's art, can it? A larger comment about covering John Denver may be that's she's pissed off she didn't cover a female classic. I mean, later in the article:

"However, Love does shower praise on artists such as Patti Smith, Nina Simone, PJ Harvey, Julie London, Joni Mitchell, and Debbie Harry. Without a hint of self-awareness, she also said her show was meant to “redeem some of the women who have been treated so badly by the record industry,” adding, “Women are still marginalized in this industry, even though they’re more successful.”

Anyway, the interviewer should have asked for elaboration.
 
CL's view of Taylor just seems to be CL in Kim Gordon "provocateur" mode. Also maybe she's a little jealous of the fact Taylor stans Lana?
 

Country Road was mediocre and flat,  but I suspect Courtney has other beef with Lana and this is just her way of shitting on her.

Maybe that's the point, she feels too much influenced but wants to sound different than Taylor, Lana and all the others. She may be right about one thing, namely that many artists copy and imitate each other, but that has actually always been the case. Perhaps she is afraid of becoming too much like the others and tries to set herself apart in this drastic way.

While  I agree with her statement that Taylor is not an interesting artist, I just don't get why she is out there shaming other (female) artists?
 
When has she ever done anything "interesting" since the early 90s apart from trying very hard to be provocative? 

Yes fun fact, Courtney hated John Denver and was actually the cause of the plane crash that killed him! She threw compacts at the plane until one pierced the cockpit window, knocking the pilot unconscious and making him fall onto the controls, causing the plane to nosedive into a nearby Taylor Swift concert.

i think shes joking because the last song lana has released was the cover expect for blue skies which i doubt she has heard. courtney also talked about lana on a podcast a few days ago saying she opened the door “for women and twinks” also like a year ago she called lana a musical genius so i dont think shes being serious

maybe she didn't want to overshadow Lana's show with her appearance, or she was a day too late for some reason...

I support her statement against Taylor being uninteresting and stale. But I absolutely disagree with the one about Lana. 

I don’t know if I’d like that, because it doesn’t really add to the set being Lana’s- as it’ll be a song not known as only released today and a song that Lana has no other ties to 
 
Billie performing ocean eyes really worked because it’s like a cult classic and it was her debut- paired with video games it was ideal

I also thought it was strange that Taylor didn't go to see Lana, but she did go the next day to see Ice and Jack, that made me think that she will probably attend weekend two, either just to watch or as Lana's guest, that weekend is her album release so it would be a good promo (like taylor needs it lol) I would like to see Lana and Taylor singing together actually.
 
On the other hand I hope Lana talks about LASSO, it's a great time to promote it, her videos from weekend 1 went super viral on TikTok, I don't know if it's too early to release a single, considering the album is coming out in september, what do you guys think?
