Can we appreciate the first part? I see everybody marveling at Jimmy and I get it - I love it too but in my humble opinion the first part is better. It's giving dbjag & dtwd for me and I'm here for it

Lana's biggest hits since Summertime Sadness being produced by Jack, oh I know some people are mad.

This was exciting to read. I must've missed when BoZ commented on the interludes, all I heard was something about them (or at least one of them) being a 5 minute low quality phone recording of a pastor yelling while muffled giggles can be heard over the top. I mean this sounds cool for an interlude but... 4.5minutes worth??? That's longer than most pop songs. Didn't think there was any instrumentation on it but glad to hear I'm wrong

am i the only one that thinks a&w sounds and feels really new and different?? even the first half of the song, it might be folky and stuff like cotcc but i feel like its still different. i feel like everyone wants her to have "omg another ultraviolence era!!!" or "omg this is sooo lizzy grant" i dont get why every time she releases new stuff people want it to be a copy and paste of ultraviolence so bad. (and tbh a&w sounds nothing like a song off of ultraviolence) i can see the similarities with some older albums but i enjoy hearing new things and lana experimenting more with new music!

    TW for SA/r*pe

I change my mind about this not being amongst my favorites. After more listens and reading the lyrics carefully, I love it more. It’s powerful and dark. A common guess analysis is that it’s about how the media and public view her. From sexualizing her when she was thin, to shaming her for not fitting in beauty standards after weight gain and dressing more casual. The line about the SA sticks out to me also. I was r-ped around the end of 2017. The stress and having to cope with what happened, not having anyone to talk to who got me, as cheesy as it sounds Lana’s music was my safe space at the time. Especially the LFL album, I was listening to it a lot (LFL was the current era at the time) and i found the folksy songs soothing (the last half of the album after Coachella that most people seemed to dislike the album for). Lana pointing out something like this in a new song makes me love her as an artist even more. She always delivers.

The song is called root beer because it’s about letting men who drink plenty of beer rearrange your root cellar free of emotional baggage and shame

and also Root Beer is one of the only uncaffeinated sodas  so

it still surprises me if i listen to the song on repeat how drastically different the end is to the beginning of the song like it happens so naturally you don't realise and then it begins again and it's like what????

What Jack has done well here is this haunting goosebump atmosphere, you can well feel how Lana loses her mind and how her mood drastically changes (because she has taken drugs?). Something like this has probably never been heard before.

i’m not going to say your name but be careful linking your personal social media profiles on your account. because those fake lyrics were submitted by someone with the exact same name on your Instagram profile that used to be in your bio, as well as on the Spotify account that owned the playlist you shared here before. and those lyrics were submitted exactly when you were talking about wanting to troll the thread

Given that both insiders told us that the second half of the album is stronger than the first one and yet we’ve already been gagged by tracks 2 and 4, I think that we’re going to get a truly great record.

So many tracks have been highlighted by them: The Grants (full and gorgeous), Candy Necklace (massive), Kintsugi (best song of all-time according to our favourite insider), Fingertips (stunner), Paris, Texas (delicate highlight), Grandfather (BOZ’s favourite), Let The Light In (singled out by both insiders), Fishtail (the potential fan favourite of the album), Peppers (a slutty vibey bop apparently), Taco Truck (an outro for the books). Even Sweet is praised for its beautiful strings, Kintsugi thinks that Margaret is actually great, and BOZ adores the instrumentation on both interludes.

This album is shaping up to be one of the most important works in Lana’s career.

another thought i keep having is, the only color i associate with AW is black. like there's no glimpse of something light and bright at all. maybe that's what lana meant when she said there's no room for colors

sorry but i don't want a&w to blow up on tiktok
ik it's trend-friendly and it helps the song to become a hit but if it did, people would later be saying the song is "dissapointing" and that they wish the entire song was like the jimmy part
