the tracks that I’m most excited about at the moment are The Grants, because it’s a opener and they always mean a lot to me as a listener, and normally she slaps on all of her opening tracks. It really sets the mood for everything we are hearing next. And American Whore, because I really want to finally know her perspective about the perspective the others have on her and her carrear on a more direct  way and I think that’s what this song is about.

And an even better transition from The Grants to the title track  that smoke

    okay last concept for now.
imagine this album was called "American Whore" and the cover was something like this:

as strange as it might sound, but what i love especially about all this is the uniqueness of the song, and lana's exploration of being and the soul, or at least that's how i think about it. it's liberating in a sense cus in ways, these topics aren't really talked about, and there's a comfort in sort of wanting that, being freaky but still reigning things in, in a genuine way. it's honestly refreshing and personally i think it's perfect.

L.D.R.'s Tunnel single, is her best work since Honeymoon, I.M.O.

The seven deadly sins, Ten Commandments, thelema, could L.D.R. be privy to OTO or mafia underpinnings.....

I actually moved into the tunnel. My life is the tunnel. I eat tunnel. I breathe tunnel. All I see is tunnel.

i'm really glad to see somebody else mention how weird people can be towards lana and her body here, i think it's fine to celebrate lana being able to be confident in her body, but a lot of people here seem to objectify it, i feel like people really need to think about how they react to particular things, because what may seem like harmless comments can actually come across as pretty objectifying, i feel like society is going towards this attitude that a woman showing her body, acting sexual is the best way to be empowered, obviously, it can be, but i feel like it's not usually just allowing women to express themselves freely, but more so further objectifying them and making them out to be sexual commodities in a society which has already been doing that

i wish society talked more about other ways women can be empowered and equal in society, other than just being sexual, it's funny to me how nobody seems to realize the issues with this

I think it’s disgusting and backwards. These are still (mostly) men making these comments. It’s great for Lana for feeling liberated to embrace her femininity in the way that she is—and I think the women who praise her for doing so are doing it from a place of camaraderie and solidarity with the female experience. But when people talk about her breasts in a way that is reductive and almost drooling over them, it’s plain disgusting. Period.

This a really thoughtful point that I didn’t consider before, because, as @Surf Noir mentioned, I took it as its intended meaning. But I really appreciate you bringing up how language takes on new connotations when it’s contextualized by something (in this case, sex).

This actually reminds me of something kind of unrelated (but also not) that I feel a bit uncomfortable witnessing. I can’t help but feel that the sensual feeling of the album’s photoshoot is used as an excuse to further objectify Lana by some audiences. I know it’s not ill-intentioned, and I know that this may read as prudish or overly sensitive, but I see a lot of comments about Lana that reduce her to an object of sexual desire.

I can only assume that because it’s largely gay men and straight women who make these comments—two groups that aren’t attracted to Lana in that sense—there’s a feeling that it’s different if a straight man said it. And because Lana is drawing attention to herself in that way, perhaps people seem like it is okay for them to do so as well. But one’s self-empowerment is not an invitation to be objectified. The whole gamut of comments that refer to Lana’s chest as a colloquial, albeit, crass term, reads as generally disgusting.

    American Whore will be

as dangerous as Off To The Races cinematic setup
as controversial & declarative as Fucked My Way Up To The Top lyrical content
    as glamourous as Art Deco
as atmospheric as Heroin (at midst of Topanga in a hot summer night)
as endless as Venice Bitch imaginary psychedelic Ocean Blvd driveway
as nostalgic as White Dress godly hour by the sunset of a late summer afternoon
as chaotic as Black Bathing Suit swimming pool full of neon, hazy & ecstasy

You didn't hear it from me

NOTG and low-key Arcadia didn’t need to be on it, maybe Cherry Blossom too (though it is my favourite of these three mentioned), and whilst I love Dealer, it needed a bridge or even just an alternate vocal in the second chorus cause it’s very repetitive and has no replay value. I only ever play Dealer to other people to demonstrate her growing experimentalism as of the past few years. Living Legend has grown on me, but it didn’t need to be there, I could take it or leave it.

That said, I treat BB as an experimental career interlude if not a mixtape, and I believe it has some of her highest highs - Text Book and Black Bathing Suit still inspire my own songwriting to this day, and I hope (and apparently hope rightly) that she will keep pushing this new direction.
