I just really want her to give us something dark, a bit more upbeat, psychedelic, inspired and fieryyyyyyyy before she really gives up on making sad bops. Like girl is not getting any younger, eventually we’re going to only be getting piano ballads and country songs…. Please god please

I think it's because i go into self defense mode, so i'd shut down and run from the situation. Like if someone makes the decision to leave me, i feel betrayed and hurt. So winning them back is the last thing on my mind. And also because 99% of the time when someone breaks up w you they've been thinking about it for weeks and their mind is already made up, so there's really nothing you can do or say to change their mind, so i think the best thing is to just accept it and remove yourself from the situation entirely without anymore words. I don't think i could've done the billboard thing immediately because it would've been too painful. It's like i don't get how immediately after a break up people can look through old pictures of them together and cry, it's just self torture. Very masochistic. That's why i think that maybe now that she returned to Tulsa, it's because it no longer hurts to be there and she can proudly go back with a clear head, That's sort of how i see it, but like you said it's definitely interesting how everyones approach is different

I would have agreed with you back in 2020 when it all happened but when she released Chemtrails and I saw that critics didn’t trash it/actually liked it quite a bit and the discourse around her wasn’t focused on the QFTC almost at all, I knew her career wasn’t as damaged as I thought it would be. She wouldn’t, otherwise, garner 1M+ streams per album (BTD, NFR, LFL, UV of course!) monthly if her brand was damaged.
 
If anything, disappearing from the public eye and deleting her old IG account restored part of the mysterious allure she had prior to the LFL days. I’ve heard casual Lana listeners say in conversation stuff like “what about Lana? is she releasing something?” and that made me think Blue Banisters being a non-event to non-stans actually works in her favor because casual listeners barely remember it and miss her music while she’s still getting money for it from the fanbase. 
 
Anyways, sorry for rambling but I find her position in the industry and how she operates to be truly fascinating. After all these years she still manages to walk the fine line between being decidedly anti-mainstream while remaining firmly in the public consciousness. A true legend!
