I’ve never understood why she said that why would her face make people not like her she’s always been seen as very beautiful

the way I've watched this livestream 300 times and I didn't recognize this moment  I just love this gif because of how quickly her expression changes, it's so funny

So true. And she divulged so much about her life that gives real context to the newer music/poetry. Thinking about that talk she had with Zach where she laid everything out on the table about Sean - and how it triggered this kind of historical “hysteria” where she got in touch with her “panicked” side (which links to the Interview Mag 2020 video and the subtitle, Insights from an *Institution*), chemistry never dying between people, etc. We have a lot to look out for now..

even rewatching it after the first two singles you're able to see how her thinking process has changed versus past interviews etc and you can hear it in the music as well

Omg yes your mind. She had been letting these Ocean Blvd thoughts simmer (and splash out of the pot), I fear.  First the Harry Nilsson/Don’t Forget Me references, now this. We have to rewatch that livestream once the album is out lol

wait but also how she said in the insta live "i think it's just my face" as to why she gets criticism and then in a&w she says "look at my face look at my hair etc"

Exactly - I think the home video scene is probably my favorite part in the movie and it reminds me of some clips Lana would use in some of her homemade music videos lol and thinking of the footage that was unfortunately stolen, I think you are right, that it was likely meant for some music videos for this era done in a similar style to the home videos in the movie

At least for one of Rob's music videos we'll get to see some Grant family home videos

Edit: also there's still a chance they could re-film some of the footage and maybe there will be a home video style music video for Paris, Texas

Same. It touches upon the theme of estranged and broken family, a failed, yet intense,  relationship, and mentions substance abuse. That home video scene is so beautiful and I was just watching it but with the SYML sample playing in the back, couldn’t help but tear up. Sometimes I wonder if Lana wanted to do those type of visuals for possible MVs this era but couldn’t because her camcorder was stolen.

now, im not one to support payola but maybe i can excuse it just this once if it’ll get her charting on the top 100 😭 ik charts don’t matter but this is very cool considering a&w is a 7min trap ballad with no promo

Just watched the movie Paris, Texas and now I'm so much more intrigued about the song

I can definitely see why Lana would've been drawn to the movie as well

I feel like Lana rarely talks about her opening tracks in general, even if they're singles. White Dress and Love are the only opening tracks that I remember her going into detail about. Honeymoon, Norman, Cruel World, Text Book all came and went, but still made super strong statements about what's to come the rest of the record

Given how much she seemingly loves this song, as well as the fact that she also mentioned it as the "first" song of the album last May, I wonder why it didn't get the track #1 treatment. It really feels like it might be the lyrical highlight of her entire career.

Anyway, it's also quite interesting that she hasn't talked about The Grants at all. Based on what she said about the theme of the album being her family origins, I highly doubt that it's going to be Sweet Carolina redux. In a way, The Grants, Kintsugi, Fingertips, and Grandfather please stand on the shoulders of my father while he's deep-sea fishing might be parts of an unofficial thematic tetralogy.
