ugh whenever she just opens herself up like that I'm like LANA we are the same person

    I LOVE HER!

She gets compared to Lana a lot, not sure what they have in common other than that they explore some similar American archetypes in their music but idk
Marina is more the fun, dancey one and the person I relate to lyrics-wise. Like all that teenage angst that's still left in me as a college student is exactly what I relate to in her songs. But Lana is more of an aspirational/inspirational figure to me. I can relate to her too but idk she has that added quality to her that puts her in another world, like someone who knows how to express everything I can't put into words

    so basically
Lana is my mother but Marina is my bestest friend

Ooh, I've been tempted to make a thread like this for a long time but I thought it'd be critically panned by the forum members.

    Anyways:

-I read the word "Off" on a switch and I thought it said "To the Races".
-I stood to do the pledge of allegiance in school the other day and said, "I Pledge Allegiance to my Dad for teaching me-"
-During an assembly, we all stood to sing the National Anthem and I thought they meant Lana's "National Anthem"
-My dad grabbed a Mountain Dew bottle out of the fridge and I automatically whispered to myself "New York City..."
-My Spanish teacher asked the class about poems and the only poem I knew off the top of my head was Walt Whitman's, "I Sing the Body Electric"
-My Social Studies teacher said, "You can't have your cake and eat it too" - and I thought "Don't tell Lana that."

I'll think of more instances in the past as time goes.

OMG a few months ago my fat friend and i were driving around town and we hear VG blaring out of someones car, such a random song to play so loud with your windows down. Anyway, we pulled up next to the car at the traffic lights and it was these two Latino thugs, all tattoo'd up, wearing gold chains, listening to this slow dreamy ballad, my friend and i were like

There's only an explanation to this

You are not a Lana del Rey fan, because if you were a Lana Del Rey fan, you should know that she loves Britney and Britney is one of her main inspirations, you know?, because she drop it like is hot, girl (reference) and she owns the pole like a go go dancer, midnight answer (reference), and of course she is a femme fatale always on a run (reference), so you need to love Britney, because when you don't love Britney, you make Lana cry, and you won't like that, right?

So I'm in for you to go to the light and see jesus (reference)

    who's in?

I love Everybody, but that stupid fucking "J-J-J-J.R." bit at the very beginning pisses me off to no end and makes me change the song right away. I hate it when producers shit all over a song with their stupid trademark sounds or whatever. Like, no one wants to fucking hear that, it disrupts the song. I've yet to find an equally HQ version of Everybody without that stupid producer trademark noise, and until I do, Get Back remains above Everybody. They're close equals without that problem though, although I'm still more toward Get Back.

    THE ONE AND ONLY.... BRITNEY.
*cue amazing weird video game ghost noises*
IF YA CAN'T TAKE IT THEN GET BACK.

    Sex.

Hey Video Games is a nice song, it's how I fell in love with Lana but it's not a strong song. It's what pulls you towards Lana but after you hear the rest of BtD, it comes off as very subpar, to me anyway.

it was my birthday a couple days ago, and we went to this stupid bar for some reason, and we all got wasted (shocker) and i convinced the DJ to play Lana, even though he kept telling me "it wouldn't fit with the mood", but he did it anyway, and everyone was so happy omg it was so nice.
  25. Born Bad liked a post in a topic by TrailerParkDarling in Lana Del Rey interviews with Singapore MSN!
Speaking to xinmsn at the Four Seasons Hotel yesterday, Lana was her soft-spoken self but expressed shock at the hordes of fans who turned up at the Mulberry storefront to welcome her. “It was wild. The fans were respectful but excited that I was there. I thought we were just going to cut the ribbon,” said the singer who also has a Mulberry bag produced in her name.

“I remember seeing things on Twitter when people knew I was coming but I didn’t know why they cared. When I saw everyone yesterday, I wish I had gotten to talk to them more but I did manage to say Hi to a lot of people along the way,” Lana explained her regret at being unable to speak to her fans outside the more as bodyguards moved her from place to place.

Lana’s fans will understand the inspiration behind her music, which she calls as “filmic” and “art”. Lana recalled hearing Elvis Presley for the first time and said, “It was so different from what was on the radio today”. She counts artistes such as Bob Dylan and Kurt Cobain to be her inspirations but she is particular about emulating the freedom the ‘60s and the ‘90s embodied.

“It was a more hopeful feeling, I try to keep it alive. I like tradition but I was really moved by the idea of being independent and artistic. I couldn’t believe that it was possible where I could have a life that was based around making art. It was such an exciting idea, for me, that I could one day be a real artist and not have to do anything else,” Lana said.

If you are wondering if the rumours over her collaborating with Lady Gaga for upcoming album ARTPOP are true, Lana denies it flat out to us. She also denied media recently saying she was going to stop making albums. “I just said that I was starting to write soundtracks for movies, so that’s where my focus was. I don’t know though. When I was younger, my muse came to me and I felt really on fire to write a lot, but now my muse comes a lot less often,” Lana said. She will be writing soundtracks for two movies out early next year.

She said her new EP, Paradise, was born out of writing a new song every month for this year. While Lana said Paradise has a more “natural” vibe with the omission of hip-hop beats, she admitted her music comes “half from a place of darkness but half from happiness for my future”. She gets her laughs though from Tumblr, remarking how she trawled through the site last night. In her own words, “I don’t always go on Tumblr but sometimes I do because the people on there are really funny.”

Paradise will be released on November 12, 2012.
