Post your unpopular opinions on Lana Del Rey here! I will of course start:

The No Kung Fu "Yayo" shits all over the album version.

^ evilentity now posts Radiohead songs, if he isn't my former English teacher then I'm a pirate.

Was anyone else's first thought when they heard with my pretty song the line from "My Momma"? I kinda geeked over that--it's not such a distinctive phrase that you could call it recycling, but I like to believe that she thought of it.

    Methamphetamine, pink flamingo
Blue ‘50s queen, Blue Oyster Cult/Cove
    Further we dream
Why don’t we go to Coney Island?
One day among, the ballad sung
The record spins blue '50s song
    The veranda looks ocean ???
    Neon palms sway
    What’s happening?
    Where did we go?
The Jersey Shore was long ago
    As with our hopes
    And Ocean Grove
And so I bid you farewell

French vanilla ice cream, just the way I like
Dripping on your windscreen, I can’t get a bite
Guess we could be more than friends, ‘cause this kiss won’t end
    And you got me trembling

You’re dynamite, I’m ready to blow
    Take me out tonight
You’re dynamite, I’m ready to go
    Touch me to ignite
Boy, you're a wild thing, rocking on my heartstrings
I can see the stars collide
    Baby, hold me tight
    Oh, you’re dynamite

Speeding through the wasteland, sparkling in the lights
Roll up the boardwalk, derelict delight
Eyes are on my dress again
    I know how this ends
    Boy, you’re all adrenaline

You’re dynamite, I’m ready to blow
    Take me out tonight
You’re dynamite, I’m ready to go
    Touch me to ignite
Boy, you're a wild thing, rocking on my heartstrings
I can see the stars collide
    Baby, hold me tight
    Oh, you’re dynamite

He’s not like other guys, I can’t apologize
For what my body wants and what my heart decides
‘Cause I’m so close to the real thing
Yeah, I’m so close to the real thing
I’m so close to the real thing I could almost die

Say it isn’t over, say it’s not goodnight
Maybe we could go somewhere and start a pillow fight

You’re dynamite, I’m ready to blow
    Take me out tonight
You’re dynamite, I’m ready to go
    Touch me to ignite
Boy, you're a wild thing, rocking on my heartstrings
I can see the stars collide
    Baby, hold me tight
    Oh, you’re dynamite

She really makes me wonder if I should have reconsidered all those MySpace friend requests I got from floppy bands

You know, it is weird that no original Lizzy fans are around. I mean, she had some audience on MySpace. Were they genuine or just being nice when they commented on her page? Do they realize she's gotten so famous but looks totally different and has a different name?

  8. The Siren liked a post in a topic by Sitar in If Lana became huge...
She's already a lot bigger than I ever imagined she would get.

It would certainly affect her a lot--I mean, it already has. But would I get angry about it? No. For her sake, I hope she doesn't have to deal with much more fame.

Imagining, like, a statue of the Virgin Mary...I guess that could make sense. I'm going to definitively change it to "past" and "crack house"--without crack house, the song actually doesn't seem to have much of a meaning beyond serious ambiguity and buying coffee. But those two words suddenly make it dark.

Welcome to LANALYSIS, where we get real unhealthy in our obsessions and absolutely revel in it.

This is a project I've been maintaining for a while now--Lana + Analysis...get it? The basic purpose is to relate every one of her songs (that's right, every last one of them) to her known and assumed relationships. Not a stone is left unturned. Privacy is violated. The fans rejoice. Mind you, it’s all pure speculation, but ~this is what makes us stans~

It’s pretty long but an interesting read, if I do say so myself. I hope you enjoy it in all it’s updated glory, and I will continue to update as new information is revealed and new songs come out. I will also be adding pictures, sources, etc. Stay tuned!

    Let’s get started!

    EARLY RELATIONSHIPS (1985 - ~2005)

    LOCAL ROCKSTARS (~2005 - 2009)

YOU MADE ME NICE FOR A WHILE (2009 - 2011)

    POST-BREAKTHROUGH (2011+)

    IN THE LAND OF DISCREPANCIES

    ADVANCED LANALYSIS

    IN SUMMARY..

    Lingering questions…
    - Who the fuck is K?
    - Who the fuck is Ray?
    - Who the fuck is Bill? Is Bill really K? Does Bill matter at all?
    - What significance do cars play? She mentions eight in total (white Corvette, white Pontiac, blue Chevy Nova/Chevrolet, Cadillac convertible, Mercedes, pickup truck, Lamborghini, Bugatti Veyron)
    - When was she/who was she with in New York City and New Jersey? Ditto LA? Most mysterious and pressing, her time in the South?
    - Did she have a fling with Bradley Soileau?
    - Did Chris C. matter enough to her for her to write songs about him?

    Assumptions Made:
    - Lana was a gogo dancer.
    - K is a drug dealer/murderer, dead or on death row.
    - Jimmy is her ex-fiancé, addicted to cocaine despite a Wikipedia page stressing how healthy he is, associated with Chevrolets.
    - Much of Sirens is about completely different relationships.
    - She fucked Bradley.
    - Mike controlled her career but their relationship wasn’t associated with anything fucked up like drugs or stripping.

Thanks for reading! I crave both your feedback and theories! This remains a forum collaboration and I don't claim to have the final say on Lanalytical manners.

For the sake of believability, I'm always hunting receipts, and currently:
    - The interview where she refers to "Yayo" as the prequel to "Video Games"
    - The interview where she describes "Video Games" as dealing with mutual sobriety in a relationship--her and her partner both staying clean.
    - The interview where she talks about meeting her boyfriend in rehab and being dazzled by his small-scale celebrity.

  21. The Siren liked a post in a topic by Sitar in What would be your own Lana unreleased CD tracklist?
This leaves out a lot of my favorite unreleased songs (Get Drunk, I Don't Wanna Go) but the flow is unmatched and everyone on Earth should hear this collection someday

    :wat:

    Anyway...

Everyone seems to be very attached to the idea that Lana did drugs in her trailer park days. I don't think that's the case. I think a lot of it was probably as a teenager and around the time of Sirens. Honestly so much more of her earlier stuff seems drugged-out than the later stuff. Who's to say she wasn't actually in the back doing crack at boarding school? And then she moved to New York City at age 18, the setting for "Fordham Road" which includes the lyric Crack house on the corner / I know I shouldn't do what it is I could.

I really hope she's clean, 100%. Addiction didn't do anything positive for Lana. Hopefully Bradley Soileau was just really pressed when he described her as a, what, speed fairy?

As for her looks, my slutty neighbor did meth for a few months and it didn't really hurt her outer appearance, except for the fact that she got mad skinny. But I see a lot of people every day who weren't as lucky.

And as for how she paid for the drugs? Several songs suggest she was a gogo dancer. Several more songs suggest she was supported by a man.

(I was going to move this to the photo section, but it's got some good discussion so I'm just going to change the title.)
