This immediately went straight to my Top Three favorite Lana songs ever along with West Coast and Terrence Loves You. Welcome to the exclusive list of songs I want to be played at my funeral, Heroin.

I think she always gets in trouble for the things she says, so she's being purposely careful and like she said "politically correct" in some of her statements to avoid being dragged by the media yet again for merely opening her mouth tbh.

I took the bed lyric as the physical passion being drained out of their relationship because all the passion was being put into the musical project instead.

Someone already said this, but I think this song is definitely about Barrie and the friend's baby/son refers to Jaime King and her child. I mean, I even remember the picture of them at the hospital together where Lana could be wearing a diamond cross necklace? https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/1e/86/43/1e86434183207878bcd0502429da9bec.jpg

I think the whole thing about the guy leaving doesn't have to be literal, like he left her or the relationship, just that he left for whatever reason and Lana felt abandoned in a way. Wasn't Barrie in a different country when Jaime's son was born? And weren't Lana and Barrie rumored to have been engaged for a bit before they broke up? I don't think we have to take every lyric 100% literally. But this is just my opinion and what I've read into the lyrics.

You know what's funny? I listened to the entire album after doing the ranking and I was like GOD DAMNIT, JUMP IS SO FUCKING GOOD. I love all the songs on the album, tbh, it's almost impossible to rank them. D:

Damn, it sounds so sinister...I fucking love when Lana gets gritty like that.

I think we can all agree Lana does some cool things with lyrics, whether it be her rich imagery, intricate rhymes or clever wordplay. So, I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone's favorite Lana lyrics are, including her unreleased material.

I'll start with a few of my own favorites.

    Get Drunk
Cigarettes and Robitussin, will I ever get to heaven?
These lyrics are really powerful to me because of the desperation I read/hear in them. Also, if you've ever fucked around with DXM (ingredient in Robitussin that makes you trip), you'll understand the drugged out hazy feeling in this line.

    Wayamaya
I remember an all white day
Fucking love this one because of how she uses "an all white day" to explain a flaw-free day.

I remember we came in May
    And we changed our names
    To Lana and Ray
We be up to the sun rosé
    I’m in gold lamé
    Your pink floral haze
I really enjoy when she starts a rhyme and keeps hitting it over and over again with these really vivid descriptions. Similar to Off to the Races. Also, I love the reference to "Lana and Ray."

    Raise Me Up (Mississippi South)
    It's the voodoo, Mississippi south
    69 million stars
Birds are flying out of my mouth
    Spirits creeping in my yard

Hold my head, it's tilting back
    Something dancing me around
    Putting crystals on my neck
Lifting my feet off the ground
This one is just amazing, sinister imagery that we don't get too much from Lana, and I love it. I can picture everything she sings about when I listen to the song and it makes this one of my favorites.

Get Drunk reminds me of my fucked up, drugged up past. Sometimes I almost long for those bad, messy times because I truly felt like I was living. But it wasn't healthy. A lot of Lana songs bring out these feelings in me. Depression. Addiction. Mad love. Breaking free from something. Finding a new life.

There's actually not a single song on the record I don't like, but here's how I'd currently rank them (these rankings will probably change completely after a few more listens in better quality as is the way with all Lana records):
1 Heroin 2 13 Beaches 3 In My Feelings 4 White Mustang 5 When the World Was At War We Kept On Dancing 6 Get Free 7 Cherry 8 Summer Bummer 8 Tomorrow Never Came 10 Love 11 Groupie Love 12 Beautiful People Beautiful Problems 13 Lust for Life 14 Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind 15 Change 16 God Bless America - And All the Beautiful Women In It   I seriously mourn the loss of BAR on the album, but I'll shut up and deal with it.

I respect your opinion but totally disagree. I think it fits in perfectly with White Mustang and Heroin, like sonically and thematically...but I'm pretty much the fucking worst harping on and on about that track especially when we got so many new amazing tracks... so everyone should ignore my ass lol.
