Not only that but she feels more comfortable censoring herself nowadays too. I mean, I can’t really blame her for wanting to seem like a better role model. Especially after going to a children’s hospital and knowing that kids listen to your records and all the things you say. I feel like the unique little references in her music are starting to die out as well. Again, I think it’s natural considering it’s been almost 8 years since she’s been away from that crazy lifestyle that inspired her to write the way she did. Though I’d rather her move on and incorporate newer references. She can’t just write songs about Barrie her entire career. Hoping and trusting her for another great evolution like BTD -> UV. Also I’m p sure she said that she dislikes the production process in that Beats1 interview

You’re truly braver than the US marines for saying this. I totally agree. I want songs that make you go “wow” during the first few listens, not songs that take half a year for you to finally appreciate

Sounds like it’d be a silly song like Stoplite De-lite but probably isn’t

Lust For Life - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
cherryblossoms replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
Honestly I see Groupie Love and Lust for Life as two sides of the same coin rather than Summer Bummer and Groupie Love. Lust for Life sounds like the aftermath of Groupie Love thematically. If anything, I think Cherry and Summer Bummer should've been standalone singles. I still find Cherry rather awkward on LFL because of how melodramatic it is. A cute and fun track but really shouldn't have made the cut (along with WM). -
She did say in an interview that she lowered the key of four songs in Honeymoon because she thought she sounded too vulnerable.

Don’t get too excited! It’s like 2 years old now and could easily be fake. #LeakSR

Is it confirmed that the guy in Chuck’s video is actually someone from Disney or is it alternative news from another Insta account

Guns and Roses is so overrated now

Can't wait for the critics to seethe over this album for being "depressing" again

Froot is a perfect, filler free album and this is coming from a casual Marina fan. I hope you longtime stans see the light one day.

This is too iconic Edit: LMAO the reactions

Hoping she gets into an exciting relationship that provides a fresh source of inspiration for her musically. I really hope she finds someone like Barrie considering just how much character he added to Lana’s lyrics/songwriting, but without the negative baggage. She was literally serving Helen Keller when she wrote Shades of Cool and Black Beauty. Lyrical masterpieces!

Oh, Poppy why Should've just cut ties with Titanic and reap whatever popularity you have left. Better than trying to salvage your career at the expense of someone else's suffering.. Her image has gone completely down the drain. How can you outright deny the abuse on Mars' end altogether and claim it's a "desperate grab for fame." So so low

Queen of Disaster/Black Beauty, Shades of Cool, Brooklyn Baby/West Coast

Thankful that my brain is accepting and bops to 98% of the songs listed here

Honestly I’d argue that her “happy” songs can sound just as good as her depressing ones. Her voice does have a darker tone which makes it sound more suitable for gloomier music in general but her upper register is also very light and agile. She sounds angelic in Brooklyn Baby and I think it easily beats out some parts of HM and LFL despite being a “happier” song. Edit: I think she could easily make an album in the same league as UV/HM even if it did have a lighter theme. Beautiful music is not necessarily limited to a sad or happy sound and she is great at both. We can start by scrapping songs with surface-level lyrics like HIAB and writing inspiring songs with soaring strings and an orchestral-based production

Take this with a grain of salt but back in 2015/2016, I remember reading this comment by someone who’s close with trading circles and they said there was a song called Heaven that was produced by Rick Nowels (?) Different from Yes to Heaven. Obviously could be very fake and there’s really not much to speculate over given the lack of info but I thought it was interesting.
