"American Standards & Classics" Cover Album - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

Recommended Posts

Lana needs to cover this song. It's super melancholic and a perfect fit for Lana's aesthetic.

Also these 3 songs. I'm hoping Lana lurks on this page and takes my suggestions seriously loool XD

She'll tell you she's true

She'll tell you she loves you
She's waiting in that warm room

The thought of you sends me shivery
I'm dressed in lace, sailing down a black reverie.

I spent a lot of my time looking at blue,

The colour of my room and my mood.

After Lana’s interview the other day, it’s clear this is still coming. It didn’t come out on time, but nothing of hers ever does.

Did she relate something about it ?

she just talked *a little* bit about it saying how she went to Zach and wanted to cover some country songs

and that’s it :toofloppy:

I swear Symphony in Blue with those lyrics is the most Lana Del Rey-Ish song released Pre-Lana Del Rey.

It gives me The Blakest Day vibes  :

Quote

Carry me home, got my blue nail polish on
It's my favorite color and my favorite tone of song

The cycle is complete because on first listen, that Lana song made me think of Kate Bush in term of sound, especially the Going Deeper and Deeper part.

Rather die young by Beyonce is next, in terms of typical Lana lyrics.

Quote
Boy, you'll be the death of me
You're my James Dean
You make me feel like I'm 17
You drive too fast
You smoke too much
But that don't mean a thing 'cause I'm addicted to the rush
'Cause I'd rather die young than live my life without you

Can you make it more LDRish ? These lyrics sound straigh out of BTD (Blue Jeans, Off to the races,...). I was wondering if it was just a copy / hommage to Lana but I'm not sure Blue Jeans was already out when the song was recorded, they were released pretty close to each other.

This song is such a guilty pleasure :thirst:

Just imagine Lana singing this song in an alternate universe :lush:

Lana could have made a video like this for her #Stargirl song :brows:

I was a fan as a teenager. :smile3: I though I was the only one here to know this song

I used to think that if VB could actually sing she'd sound like Caroline Polacheck (see Charlift's  Ghost tonight and Cool as Fire). :agree:

since its confirmed Lana recorded 4 song w Nikki for these albums I think its relatively possible we might have some with Weyes and Zella too. Weyes has shared posts of her in the studio for quite some time and who knows maybe they recorded more than one cover when they made For Free :nails:

I think Lana was sincere about releasing this. I think it just turned into a bigger project than she thought it would be (kind of like the Violet audiobook). I don't mind waiting indefinitely because I know whatever the final product is will be glorious, and we will play it on our turntables until we are grey and old, and our grandchildren or the neighbors are begging us to turn off that noise. But we won't turn it off. American Standards and Classics will outplay our lives. Praise Godna

While there’s life, there’s hope, but... Hope is a dangerous thing.
