Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

I think I have screencaps of her sharing it on Facebook that pre-date that, but those are on another computer. I'll check when I get a chance.

I have a little question regarding both versions of Motel 6...

So, one is the acapella demo; so far so good. However, I've heard 2 different versions of the "regular" one - this one (which seems to be the most common and easiest to find) and this one (the one I have in my 'unreleased' folder).

Can someone please just tell which is the right one?! :$

The first one is a remix.

I'm not sure if this should go into Lanalysis BUT who is TV In Black & White about? With the afterlife and prison references within the song I feel like it's about K.

Can someone explain to me this whole rich daddy thing? About him paying for her career? I'm pretty sure I never heard of this other than people speculating when she first came out that she was a contrived mess. Which I believe is untrue since the bitch writes all her songs and is a beautiful goddess.

Well, her dad is a proven millionaire, which is the only reason any of that initial criticism seemed plausible. However, she was out of the house from a young age and mostly appeared to support herself through her early music career. Her first label even gave her money to live in a trailer in New Jersey while making her album--no daddy involved yet. However, after that album was released for three months, she wanted it withdrawn. Her father helped with that, buying back the rights to her album. It sounds sketchy on paper--unsuccessful album, daddy buys the rights, returns on the scene with huge lips for round two. However, there's no proof that he bought her actual opportunities. For instance, her first label signed her based on a local talent show that she was in and Interscope signed her after she put "Video Games" on YouTube independently.

She does exacerbate some of these claims with lyrics like I never have to work 'cause my daddy is rich, though. And he may have paid for her to get a nosejob, but that's actually not that uncommon. As for actual success? Not manufactured, in my opinion.

Thanks! Yeah I've always seen her as pretty independent as an artist. I think that line from Go Go Dancer tho is just a bit of sarcasm and is part of her whole image. Although it's obviously a true statement. All the plastic surgery stuff, while it may be common, isn't proven and it reminds me of when people bring it up for Beyonce or GaGa. Either way I think it just enhanced her image and I don't think I ever heard about a nose job before. Lips yes but I think that's just cute for her I guess.

How did Lana and Jaime become friends? I love Jaime as an actress and model so much I was really excited when I found out they were friends.

She talks about that in this interview - Channel V at Splendour in the Grass

She basically says she met Jamie and her husband (who's a director) in California when she was singing at a hotel; Jamie told her she loved her album and then they eventually became friends. Months later all 3 decided to do the video for Summertime Sadness together.
