Honestly, the interview made me feel way better with the Nikki Lane feature! I'm actually looking forward to it! Same with For Free.

"Dark But Just A Game" is sonically compared to Portishead and Ricky Nelson's"Garden Party". Lyrically, it is supposed to be similar to Allen Ginsberg's poem "Howl".
Apart from that, it seems to be inspired by an disillusioning incident at a party she attended with Jack, hosted by Madonna and U2's manager Guy Oseray, where she contemplated about how it's best not to meet your idols and how musicians change in strange ways. The title originates from a conversation between her and Jack.
Jack also describes this song as "so LDR", being about "fly down the rabbit hole and smile in the same breath"

Sounds like Dark But Just A Game could be on the same level as The Blackest Day please make it happen :trisha:

That was a really fantastic interview! So nice that she mostly talked all about the music!

it was fun to see all of Eclipse’s hints (grass being greener, white stripes, Kings of Leon) have meaning

also all the retrospective pictures of her, while knowing White Dress is a retrospective track.
I’m curious how White Dress sounds since it seems very hope but also had slightly more instruments.

I’m exited for literally every song on this album

72 and 73

I also think 68 & 79 are missing. There is something written prior to page 70 and some pics posted to Twitter are missing also

Not a Kings of Leon mention. I was just listening to Aha Shake Heartbreak last night and was upset how disappointing their new album is shaping up to be.

Such a similar answer to the one she gave in the NY Times interview in Aug 2019. I wonder if White Dress was written around then?

On “The Greatest,” you sing about missing rock ’n’ roll. Do you think rock is dead or dying?

It’s more about the concept of actually just chilling and listening to music for no reason. I was thinking of when I was 19, 20, 21 and had my first real boyfriends in this [expletive] apartment and just listening to Kings of Leon, that song “Milk,” or like White Stripes and the Strokes. We were trying to get into this secret bar they had on the East Side and no one would ever let us in. It was so fun. Maybe I should’ve said indie rock.
