Her past albums pale so much in comparison with NFR and COCC. COCC is her first album without a single one filler. Lyrics-wise its her most mature and production-wise her most intimate record to date. But i see thats someone likes to be overwhelmed with grandiose production her other work had.

I honestly kinda agree with you. I wouldn’t say her past albums are pale, but she really found her sound with NFR and COTCC. A lot of people hate the fact that she’s not making music like BTD or UV anymore, but I think she just needed to experiment with a lot before deciding what she was the best at. NFR and COTCC are so reminiscent of her May Jailer and early Lizzy Grant days, I feel like she’s always wanted to be a kind of singer-songwriter artist and it just feels like a natural progression

I'll do it for the right reasons

I love how she’s progressed..it would be boring if she stuck to the BTD sound. I find the more an artist repeats the same sound it kind of devalues the original work.

The two nature spots that I chose to go listening to COCC are closed due covid. I'll just drive around in the ugly part of the countryside so I can at least have 40% of the vibe that I was going for

P.S. Is the Spotify version inferior to the YT version?

So...

The first three songs are not only a 1-2 punch, but sound a bit like « we are departing NFR ». LMLYLAW begins the rest of the album, the folk and countryish sound. I now get why it was chosen as the first single (and it really sounds better on the context of the album, although I already loved it).
And that album sounds so much better and intimate with good earphones.

White Dress is.... something else. It's got so much depth. Despite its sadness, it also has a serene, warm outlook on things. I love it so much. I did not expect her to sing that way, but it's just so good. I honestly think all of the songs are good, although I had higher expectations for Wanderlust. LMLYLAW is definitely the worst song, by far. But the album is so cohesive and contemplative, it expresses so much.

It feels so surreal to see COCC pre-release among the retired threads. I saw many of the the meltdowns and the mess as a timid lurker until I actually joined the boards and I'm elated that I did.

Happy cocc day coccsters:ahh:

Just my opinion as an old Lanaboard member at this point :delish:but this album is boring. The most Lana song is Tulsa Jesus Freak, but it’s sad that she let go of the Lana magic on other songs. Very mature and non controversial, but I don’t think I like that.

TJF  (also DBJAG/Yosemite??) still makes the album worth it, but idk if I’ll be listening to the other songs as much.  Signing off :hooker:

Spotify is really trying to push Justin's album, I don't follow him or listen to any of his music and never have on the app, so for them to tell me to listen to his album over Lana's which should have been on the top for me because she's my number 1 listened to artist, is shady to say the least. I didn't even get an email to say she released new music, no notification, nothing.

yeah same i just opened my spotify and the first thing that pops up is new music “for you” and its telling me to listen to Justice... payola

Can Spotify stop pushing Beaver's flop album and acknowledge COCC supremacy?

Besides, his hair in the Spotify pic looks like mine after not showering for a week after a depressive episode. Get help, J. I mean it luv :krylie:

Fuckinhell its a masterpiece again :crai::icant::hawt:

I didn't think it would be as good as NFR really after hearing LMLYLAW and Chemtrails and was worried about it being like songs left off NFR but all the other songs were great and it does have it's own distinct feel thats a bit different to NFR.

It might even be her best album :suicide:

Radio station interviewed two Lana stans and didn't think of reaching out to me, how rude. :crossed::poordat: They also played an edit of White Dress, but I don't know it's a radio edit? Possibly their own edit? Hard to tell, but it was definitely shorter than the album track.

Oh okay, both the stans they interviewed were probably picked because they mentioned Lana in their new poetry book and the other quoted a song in their novel or whatever. :noparty: I guess being a mod at the biggest fan forum isn't enough.

What a shame what we have on Spotify doesn't sound like the cd rip the leak came from. Everything is quiter and sounds worse on the headphones

Yeah it is different it seems. I've listened to both the Spotify and Apple Music versions and honestly the Apple one sounds better. I'm normally team Spotify, like my Apple Music account is never used lol. But that's what I'm using for streaming now. Maybe I'll switch them up throughout the day but I just feel like the Apple one sounds less "muffled."

Not sure if this was posted but the entire album is on YouTube on Lana Del Rey official.  I don't know if that's the best marketing move but it does scream, "What the hell". You go girl.

I know, like she's never really done that before. I think maybe it is a push to rack up Youtube streams. Should be interesting to see how that works out.
