Hit the streets, city beat

I know what you want

Talk to me softly

French Restaurant

Every time I turn around

I look at you like "What now?"

I'm telling you it's all true

I'm talking to him while I'm thinking of you

I'm trying my best, I don't know what to do

I'm talking to you, don't know what it's about

I know they think that I have everything

If I can't have you then they can't have me

(I know it looks like I have everything)

But if I can't have you then they can't have me

(I know they they think that I have everything)

Why am I crying on the balcony?

(I know it looks like I have everything)

If I can't have you then they can't have me

Honestly

Super cool, swimming pool

Will you paint me sweet?

Look at you painting cool in the garden

Every time I turn around

I look at you like "What now?"

Can't one single thing be just what it appears to be?

I'm talking to him while I'm thinking of you

I'm trying my best, I don't know what to do

I'm talking to you, don't know what it's about

I know they think that I have everything

(I know they they think that I have everything)

Why am I crying on the balcony?

(I know it looks like I have everything)

If I can't have you then they can't have me

Honestly

(Yeah)

Yeah, yeah

Yeah, yeah, yeah

I know they think I have everything

If I can't have you then they can't have me

I know it looks like I have everything

If I can't have you then they can't have me

sounds to me like she's saying swimming blue instead of swimming pool maybe?? might just be that my ears and brain aren't friends today tho :biblio:

it's terribly simple. the good guys are always stalwart and true. the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and we always defeat them and save the day. no one ever dies and everybody lives happily ever after.

She needs to go back to this style of songwriting instead of writing about how haters purposefully perceive her as a culture vulture when she is anything but.

It does kind of sound like “color wheel”! But it also sounds like she could still be figuring out the lyric and just mumbling a placeholder. I think at one point the background bit switches to “we could have everything”. I’m obsessed with this song now :legend:

do we know what year this is from and if it was meant  to  be on an album?

i saw something  saying it was supposed to  be on  BTD but it sounds a lot more recent  vocals/ production  wise..

It was done in 2011 with Chris Braide, same session as Million Dollar Man

thank you! was it  meant for BTD?

it sounds so  much like White  Dress.. it's so cool to  see  similarities in her music  between then and now

Just now discovering this song and feel it is some of her best work; the melodies and lyrics have so much feeling and vulnerability. This is why I fell in love with her in the first place.
