Let the Light In 18,669 Posted May 21, 2021 I don't understand why people find WW beats messy. It is not a result of a poor production, it is meant to be that way. They remind me of 8 bit Lana covers. You can hear one similar example of beats here: 7 Quote I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sick of it
sjatib 5,172 Posted May 21, 2021 Yesterday, while listening to Wildflower Wildfire, I thought that it made me think of another song in some way. Today I noticed it reminded me of Underneath, by Tarja Turunen. If you don't know it, check it, an inmense song:
Mer 61,771 Posted May 21, 2021 "Hot fire, hot weather, hot coffee, I'm better, so I turn, but I learn it from you" is literally one of her best musical moments ever. Idk why, but that part scratches an itch that has been left neglected since "So catch a wave and take in the sweetness, think about it the darkness the deepness". 9 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹

IanadeIrey 62,021 Posted May 21, 2021 I really, really like how when she says “hot coffee, I’m better...” it almost sounds like she’s saying “hot coffee, I’m bitter.” Coffee on its own is often thought of as having a bitter taste, and given the lines about her “father’s wife” and the second verse and chorus in particular, I wonder if that was intentional — to have it sound like both “better” and “bitter.” It would definitely fit thematically because there is a hint of bitterness in the song, but then she affirms to her lover that she won’t “burn like the others” which links back to the line actually being “I’m better with you.” Ugh!! she’s brilliant

That was my first thought when I heard the lyric, and I think it’s pretty reasonable to assume that’s what it’s referring to. Similarly, in Fuck it I love you, she appeared to reference substance use when she sang, “I used to shoot up my veins in neon.” Both lyrics have this very image-evoking way of describing her addictions, but that’s just my perception of the lines 6 Quote “…and this is all I looked for all my life – to be able to give of my love, my spontaneous joy, unreservedly, with no fear of…misuse, betrayal.” Sylvia Plath
anwdelrey 9,270 Posted May 21, 2021 I kind of hate how each song has its own thread but whatever I guess lol.

If so, it almost appears that she’s connecting the “rage” of her mother when she was younger to her hospitalization at the age of 34, according to the poem. If she’s not referencing the facility, it’s rather disturbing to think of what else her mother’s “rage” would cause her to be hospitalized. If I remember correctly, Lana (understandably) responded harshly to what she perceived to be Ann Power’s public suggestion that Lana underwent abuse when she was younger without Lana actually denying it happened. I dunno. Either way, it’s incredibly sad, but I’m proud of Lana for being this vulnerable and candid 7 Quote “…and this is all I looked for all my life – to be able to give of my love, my spontaneous joy, unreservedly, with no fear of…misuse, betrayal.” Sylvia Plath

rabbit 5,269 Posted May 21, 2021 Wow wow wow do I love it. Really connect with her words about her mother, that was emotionally stunning. In my childhood, I’d beg my father to protect me from my mother, but it didn’t happen. “Ended up awkward but sweet”. That whole verse was so cathartic, and it seemed it was for many of us ? Also, the urgency in needing to control your own flame. This song was so revealing of Lana, and also made me take a soft look back at some difficult memories. All of the new songs did, in their ways. Love love seeing the continuation of her lyrical and emotional progress ? Here’s the deaalll

After Miley rips off Lana's aesthetic, she bullies Lana into changing her release date. It is infuriating.
