Why does poetry come with Lithium? My IQ is not high enough for these songs :icant:

@BoardingSchool actually explained it really well!

Comfortably Numb refers to the Pink Floyd song, and Lithium refers to the Nirvana song. I think that whole verse refers to how she coped with her home life and the music she listened to would influence her own songwriting.

Yup I caught that too. I don’t think it can be used as medication tho. It used to be used on patients some time ago. But it did more damage than good if I recall correctly

Yeah possibly, that was the first thing that came to my mind tho lol

Girl, I take it. It is still used as a medication for mood swings and depression.

I don't really understand the lyric: 'later than hospitals and still on my feet'

I think it’s “So I ended up awkward but sweet, later then hospitals”

meaning after the abuse by her mother she had to later go to a hospital but eventually she landed on her feet.

When I realized she called her mother „my fathers wife“. Hit me like a ton of bricks :xcry:

very this... i have a horrible relationship with my sister (she was v abusive) and i only ever refer to her as "my nephew's mum" so that part got me too :aw: (not implying her relationship with her mother is anywhere near that bad of course!!)

The way she reduced Patty from her mother to her “father’s wife” lol

I think it’s sad she feels that way about her :( But then again, it might be better to move on than try to mend something that is broken. I’m proud of Lana for finding a way to live, knowing it won’t get better.

This song is so strong lyrically. I feel like it was a poet turned into a song. It truly mesmerized me. "I'll be like a wildflower I live on sheer willpower"

Also the instrumental of the last chorus reminds me so much of the beats of Heroin's "it's fucking hot wether !" bridge. Considering this song is channeling Heroin with hot weather lyrics, I'm loving it so much.

(Omg, also "I wouldn’t know how cruel the world was" -> Cruel World)

What I can promise is I’ll lie down
Like a bed of wildflowers
And I'll always make the sheets
Smell like gardenias wild at your feet
And I nourish you hazily

:oprah:
