these three sound like free form poetry, voice memo and reading journals at the same time.... something like hope is a dangerous thing mixed with violet bent backwards

I thought the same thing

absolutely cannot believe i'm about to defend these god awful single artworks / covers BUT.... little theory incoming :hooker:....

does anyone else feel like maybe the artworks intentionally progress in rawness and 'ugliness' according to how revealing the songs they belong to are? for example, Blue Banisters is def a personal song but it's fairly "happy" with a sweet message. i remember when we all speculated whether or not the bruised look on her chest was intentional, i for one just thought it was a symptom of the filter she was using - but now, with the other artworks there, i can see it's intentional. still, it's not overly obvious, her face looks pretty and "normal", that kinda thing.

then we have Wildflower Wildfire: there are intensely obvious bruises on her chest and neck area, her face is distorted in a subtle uncanny valley type way. similarly the lyrics of the song take on a slightly darker theme and they're more revealing than the lyrics of Blue Banisters.

finally, Text Book is the most revealing and arguably upsetting song of all, and with it comes an artwork with amped up darkness and ugliness - her face is more distorted, her bruises are darker and more numerous.

it's giving a lil bit of FKA Twigs x Jesse Kanda vibes:

sorry if someone said this already!! im at work rn and keeping up with all the madness is proving difficult!!

Yes!!! You hit the nail on the head!!  I think Lana is always a few steps ahead than most people think. To me, these artworks serve as a self-parody in response to people mocking her previous covers, but the added “bruises” and overall roughness of the covers perfectly portray the emotions and confessions of the songs. SO GOOD

BB is pretty and I like the lyrics a lot. Textbook is a no go for me. Boring with weird lyrics. WW is obviously the most interesting of the 3 both lyrically and sonically so it's my favorite, but I wasn't blown away. Just generally kind of...whelmed. Tired of the stripped back sound like 10000%. I am loving the honesty of the lyrics but I wish the musical backdrop was more elaborate.

well... that wasn’t what i was expecting tbh. on initial listen i kinda hate bb’s lyrics...they feel like a grocery list :toofunny:

the black lives matters part is...cute i guess but it’s giving marina and well i dragged her yesterday for her fake woke lyrics so NEEWAYS :toofloppy:

i loved the melodies and production tho, especially ww the chorus and pre-chorus are so good, instant fave for now :kris: tb is giving get free which is a nice vibe. one of those two also has a part that heavily resembles the end of the in my feelings chorus. i kinda love how she’s subtly sampling her own songs on her new records, seems genius to me. blue banisters production could’ve been different, maybe strings or light drums to make it fuller/dreamier . i SO wanted bridges but well no one seems to me then anymore ??

i think all of them will grow A LOT in the next 24 hours and it’s just me expecting something different but that’s on me. so excited for the rest :pussypower:

Notice how Lana called out all of Lana boards when she sang “cause I know you wanna talk about it” on wildflower wildfire ?

But in all seriousness she is incredibly strong for sharing deep looks into her life.

Textbook and Wildflower are a look into her past while Blue banisters is about her life now.
this lyric is especially heartbreaking: ?

Damn Lana kinda drags her dad in WW but also talks about him tenderly in TB. I wonder what he will post about this

but she articulates the contradictory feelings you have towards your parents in situations like the ones she describes perfectly. i relate to these lyrics almost to a T n for my favorite artist to put these feelings in beautiful songs like these brought me to tears.

So she released COTCC to heal us, only to fucking obliterate us with the next album.

Okay lyrically I actually kind of stan all of them, especially Wildflowers at least. They are very free and just chronicling kind of, so its kind of hard to guess what they are "about" just by listening one time but after reading them all... :defeated:

They're already gearing up on Twitter to drag her, so... Let's just ignore everything we see on social media about Lana for the weekend and stream to the music. There is absolüt no use defending her at the moment, because they're already convinced she's a hag.

...but I've still got jazz, when I've got those blues.

They've all been up in America since 12. I bought them all. You might just have to search each one individually for them to show up.

Thanks you, my friend.
