Graphic Design Discussion

Recommended Posts

I figured I'd make a topic where we can discuss methods of making things/ask help when needed!

I mainly made this because I need help creating a knockout on Illustrator and I cannot find what I'm looking for on Google

i’m more of a photographer than a graphic designer but i’ve been trying to navigate it

considering that photoshop has been rooted into my psyche trying to work with illustrator is such a hard learning curve and i’m still really struggling with it

What do you need help with?

so I'm trying to recreate this on Illustrator

which I'm assuming is a knockout w that text

except I'm doing it with an image, not text, and I cannot for the life of me figure it out

this is the logo I'm using

and this is the layer it sits on top of that I'm trying too have it knock out (I hope that makes sense, I'm kinda drunk lol)

Is this what you're trying to achieve?

If so you need to put the vector logo on top of the layer you want to have as a background, select both, and use the second option on the Pathfinder. In French it's called Soustraction, it might sound like Substraction in English

Sorry I forgot to mention - you really do need to have the logo in vector, but you could always vectorise the png, if you need help with that I can attempt to do that for you!

i probably will have to ask you because i cannot for the life of me get it to vectorize

I don't promise I'll succeed, but I can certainly try!

the XCX logo i have as a PNG with a transparent background, but I cannot get the image trace thing to work unless i’m doing it wrong (i’ll upload it later i’m at work)
