The way I don’t even know what the lyric is because I haven’t been reading the spoilers and I just jumped into the conversation because I was interested 💀 but you have me excited to hear that song even more now and see the discursive threads that run in the song. We can continue this discussion in the post-release or lyric thread in 3 weeks <3

the grants has grown on me so much since my first listen.. even if i still an't really get into the intro, i think the piano in the beginning reflects the whole tone and mood of the album. and it were the lyrics that made me really get the whole song. "you're a family man, but--but..." is breaking my heart  and a&w's "do you know a singer still be looking like a side-piece at 33" after that.... my god.

 

and some more of my delusion- considering lana has listened to don't forget me by harry nilsson, she's probably heard the whole pussy cats album, and one of my favorite songs on it is mucho mungo/mt elga. so i just can't help but think "so many mountains too high to climb" was somehow inspired by it:

ABSOLUTELY! You learn from life and your own actions. As young people, most of us learn by trial and error, as in, "Oh, calling that guy in my math class a hick wasn't such a good idea, as others brow-beated me, moved away from me, and then he really dressed me down in the hallway in front of everyone."  Live and learn. It's a long process that only gets tighter and more difficult until we find some success in ourselves as individuals, and Lana has been documenting for the world her own experience of this, which now continues in depth on OC.

I’m actively choosing to listen to Fingertips as if Lizzy herself was singing it to us as her ultimate manifesto-lullaby. Such a moving and sprawling flight above the clouds all the way from Sirens to this very instant. One of the best written tracks from any artist ever, perhaps?
