I think they only said that because of the electric guitar. It's kind of similar (same as the one Jack used for The Greatest) but they're not sonically nor lyrically similar!

I think there's a similar "nautical" theme. The production is MUCH more grand and soaring in grandfather and it's also less of a traditional sounding song. There's some really interesting parts of it that have a 90's sounding vibe, almost like The Cranberries. Mariners is what plays when the storm clouds form over the sea, Grandfather is what plays when the storm clears and the sun shines through.

So brave, yet so true. I have changed my ways about him, especially with the latest tracks, but there was sense of symbiosis on her first three records that has yet to be reciprocated.
