If they like it enough, it will get a high score. I wouldn’t call SZA’s latest album cohesive, but it still got BNM from them.

Fair enough! Hopefully the critical reception is warm and positive

My only complaint is taco truck not being long enough

Spoiler

It should've been its whole, own thing honestly. I would've taken more of the first part and less of the trap beats.

anyway i still dont get the meaning of the grandfather title, someone enlighten me pls wtf its supposed to mean

Assuming she's talking abt a grandfather that has passed, she's basically asking him to watch over her dad (when he goes fishing but maybe in general life?).

Like a guardian angel, ig

feeling like songs from BB and DYKTTATUOB could have been put together to make one really cohesive album about her family, karmic lineage, the kind of 60s songwriter vibe and the sound she explored with summertime/textbook/thunder/DYKTTATUOB

and then a full album of slut pop :brows:

No because the BB section would ruin the album :blush3:

okay so i just listened and my top 3 rn is:

1. paris, texas

2. sweet

3. fingertips

this is probably an unpopular opinion but i hate the last four track run 😭  it feels like she only included it to shut up those piano antis. it also bothers me on taco truck how she didn’t re-record the venice portion of the song because you can hear the difference in vocal production styles from the two halves of the song  the way she records her vocals in the past few records have been so different than pre NFR, it almost sounds like she put unfinished demos. idk i feel like she could do so much better with “slutty trap beat” sounding songs. i do, however, love the taco truck section but wish she didn’t include the  venice sample

This is, musically speaking and in terms of songwriting, definitely her most sophisticated album. All the dissonant notes; melodic, and yet keeps you guessing.

She is BALLSY this era.

I actually love Jack's voice because it sounds so old ? like you're listening to somebody singing live on a 70´s video. Also the whole vibe of the song is so cute and happy and bright I love it sm

honestly

i think if we didn't know of the Venice Bitch sample in Taco Truck we would be way more gagged by it. It's an amazing song overall imo and such a Lana thing to do...
