Dragonslayer

Spoiler

Any corrections would be appreciated

She is a Spanish señorita
Her eyes are green and her heart is gold
You have a vision, you'd like to meet her
And so you're walking down that road to the sea

You hear a lot of things about her

Her reputation's widely known
The people talk but that don't matter

Because to you she feels like home

You feel free because

She'll never bring you down
You're hot, then she'll bring you water
She wears a flower crown
She is the people's daughter
She's holy, holy
Maria's prayer, the dragonslayer
She's fighting fire by the sea

She is a Spanish [?]
Her eyes are green and her dress is gold
She is a siren, la femme Nikita
Her children young but her soul is old
She feels free

She'll never bring you down
You're tired, she'll bring you water
She'll never leave this town
She is the father's daughter
She's holy, holy
Maria's prayer, the dragonslayer
She's fighting fire by the sea
Maria's prayer, if you should see her
Give her my best wishes for me

Holy, dragonslayer
These troubled waters
They don't mean nothing to you
Patron saint of troubled daughters
Hold your light and you have it true
Because you're holy, you're holy
Holy, holy, you're holy, holy

Maria's prayer, the dragonslayer
She's fighting fire by the sea
Maria's prayer, if you should see her
Give her my best wishes for me

@Coloringbooks I hear:

She’s holy, holy

Maria’s prayer, the dragon slayer

and

her eyes are green, and her dress is gold

She is a siren, La femme Nikita

A quick google search says Nikita is from a film.

I really think Lana sings about herself in this song, with an outsider’s perspective. The Spanish name (Del Rey), her time in Spain when she was younger, the green eyes, flower crowns, old soul, people talking about her/her reputation.

Ty guys! I've been confused about those lyrics for a long while :deadbanana:

I think it's "heart" in the first verse and "dress" in the second.

Don't think it's that, it definitely ends in -ina, but I can't tell what's the word(s)

i hear “y la lolina” which doesn’t really mean anything as far as i know, but it could be referencing —

lolina — a cafe/bar in madrid

lolina lane — a road in los angeles???

i cant really tell what she’s saying but that’s what i hear as of now💀

Ok, so according to wikipedia, this is the plot of the movie, not the tv-series which came after, La Femme Nikita:

Quote

Nikita is a nihilistic teenage junkie who commits her life to anarchy, drugs and violence. One night, she participates in the robbery of a pharmacy owned by a friend's parents. The robbery erupts into a gunfight with local police, and her accomplices are killed. Suffering severe withdrawal symptoms, she murders a police officer. Nikita is arrested, tried, and convicted of murder, and is sentenced to life in prison.

In prison, government officials fake her death, making it appear that she has committed suicide, and remove her from prison. She awakens in a nondescript room, where a well-dressed, hard-looking man named Bob tells her that, although officially dead and buried, she is in the custody of a shadowy government agency known as "the Centre" (possibly part of the DGSE). She is given the choice of becoming an assassin, or of occupying "row 8, plot 30", her fake grave. After some resistance, she chooses the former and gradually proves to be a talented killer.

Sounds like a movie a young Lana might've had enjoyed, I'm even curous to watch it myself too now.  It's giving 100 dollar bill, heavy hitter, noir, serial killer etc etc.:oprah3:

I also hear "y la lolina" but maybe she's just saying nonsense :thumb2:

I know a couple of people named Lola that get called "lolina" instead of "Lolita" by their close relatives but I feel that's too obscure and niche... I don't think Lana would know about those Spanish things (but she did live there for a while so who knows :thumb3:
