How do y'all feel about the idea of DLC and Day One patches?

Recommended Posts

Title. What do y'all think of DLC and Day One patches? A game I'm looking forward to, which comes out in 2025, ALREADY has DLC planned for it to be out on Day One, or so Reddit says. Idk how to feel about that.

Patches are unfortunately unavoidable in this day and age - Miss the PS1-XBOX era so much in that regard.

DLC should be like an expansion/worth the money “Borderlands’ Tina DLC / Forza Horizon’s Expansions” Not like skins & weapons packs.

Now, I am a Physical copy guy. BUT…

In this day and age, I think games should be released Digitally first. Then offer Physical once they’re done patching/adding DLC. Use cartridges similar to a switch, But with higher storage obviously.

So you’re able to install the complete game in it’s entirety without needing an internet check of license.

I’m delusional, But that would be how I run videogames…

dlc for the sims is the epitome of what dlc SHOULDNT be

exactly this. I shouldn’t have to pay 300+ dollars for a game with all of its elements that’s insanity.

FromSoftware dlcs are amazing examples of extra content done right.

day one patches are annoying but yeah I don’t see a gaming world without them at this point.
