Jack Antonoff is a musical genius, I like his work on NFR, COCC, Folklore and Daddy's Home.

I fell asleep when listening to Daddy's Home.

I'm fucking crazy, but I'm free

I love 'Blue Banisters', but 'Arcadia' is one of Lana's most dreadful song. It starts off good, but after the first verse she loses me.

i don't think so honestly, if anything she chose the right tracks as singles. people don't listen to honeymoon because it's a slow album and it came right after the ultimate "rock bangers" album for her. it's kinda like a melodrama to solar power moment, except honeymoon is good :hype:

solar power lashings i’m here for it

while im feeling honest- Beautiful is kind of an embarrassing moment for her. she is literally comparing herself to Picasso in a song that has some of the most painfully basic and uncreative lyrics of her career and could go on a home goods needlepoint pillow. I STILL LOVE THE SONG but only bc i love her and I see what she was tryign to do with it. if it were anyone else though...

I actually don't find that problematic the fact that she compares herself to Picasso -he was a human being after all, I'm not a fan of deifying people, no matter how talented or popular they might be-. What makes it cringy for me is how on the nose the reference is. Comes a bit as if she was on high school, trying to impress the art teacher by showing off the fact that she knows what Picasso's blue period was. The way she has overused beyond every limit the "blue" metaphor doesnt help either.

Tbh Chemtrails isn’t even as bad as everyone makes it out to be, if it had a better album cover and the era wasn’t traumatic, and you cut 2 tracks it’s perfect :nails:

To me, the melody, repetition, and production of the chorus is the most cringey thing about the song and I refuse to listen to it now. It feels like a parody of a song, like an overly cheesy ballad that people use as a punchline of a joke.

I agree about the Picasso reference but let's not pretend that these lyrics are any worse than countless others in the other songs.

The singles have some of the worst lyrics on that album and at least Beautiful has an actual, proper piano whereas it sounds like Mike Dean (who imo is overrated af) borrowed Jack's Fisher-Price keyboard for Wallflower

Not to mention she serves actual vocals in Beautiful instead of the shrill, borderline-whiny declarations found in Text Book

Beautiful is a good song and having to put aside some cringeworthy lyrics to like a song of hers is nothing new

:agree:

ur legit gonna look the same stop buying oil of Olay face cream

i don't think the picasso reference is bad, just the way she says it. "what if someone had asked picasso not to be sad" is soo cringe. could've been way better if she just said something like "if picasso weren't sad there'd be no blue period"
