Unpopular Lana Opinions

Recommended Posts

Lust for Life is her worst album and has a ton of her most forgettable songs (but also features some of her best)

NFR would be the greatest album of all time if she didn't include TNBAR

AKA is a top tier album

Radio is one of her worst songs

For Free would be a good closer song for Chemtrails if she did it solo, but the collab is kinda clunky and awkward

Is This Happiness isn't bad but is nowhere near as good as everyone makes it out to be

Well the only way for her to have become as successful is she is now is by creating so frequently, and obviously when you're creating so frequently not all of it is going to be amazing

At 13 I was obsessed...get ready for it.....

Born To Die Gemini dubstep remix and Young and Beautiful Kaskade remix. Those remixes including Simmertime Sadness made me listen to her original versions.

I went to hear those remixes and the parts before the drop still sound good but the drops ruin the songs.

you guys were the cool kids in middle school. I used to listen to  the legend of zelda soundtrack and anime theme songs :krylie:

QFTC is only controversial because more than half of the world population cannot understand what they read.

it's true that most people jump to reactions before fully understanding what they read but it's also true that there are ways of saying something in a way to avoid misunderstanding :true:

I was a NFR hater for a long time up until COCC and BB came out. After listening to those albums, I started to appreciate NFR more by comparison but I’m still not really keen on it. I don’t think it’s her best album at all. Not even close

Those coquette girls who only read Lolita come into my mind. Lana's old songs have super pretentious edgy lyrics which is probably a magnet for teenage girls. I remember as a teen being turned on by You Can Be The Boss, especially "got a cigarette with his number on" and "the liquor on your lips I just can't resist".

I'm fucking crazy, but I'm free

I felt the exact same way when it first came out. After some years I started to appreciate it more and found some songs that i really like as well but i don’t believe that NFR  is her biggest defining moment as an artist as some might believe .

venice bitch might be the most overrated song of her, its the only one song where i feel the length of track and want it to end faster, nothing great was made idk why her fandoms in almost every country in the world claim this song, i just will never understand its phenomenon

also i like seeing people who also dont praise nfr up to the sky, it was never in my list of her best albums and will never be when at least ultraviolence with honeymoon exist, but its really cohesive with its own vibe that makes me to appreciate this album especially when comparing with her further albums (cocc btw has that really great autumn vibe and i like that she did her ying-yang albums like taylor did with folklore-evermore) and i see at least why it might be claimed by critics and fans, but nfr didnt do really much for me anyways

when u really think about it, post-honeymoon, it seems like her music's been more engaging outwardly. lust for life was explicitly made for the journey of hers with her fans aka us and other fans. nfr, a great reflective narrative w lots of parallels, cotcc her sisterhood, and then back to bb like a regaining or reclaiming of self, but still more fixated towards her public perception.

i think it's a bit strange that a majority of listeners keep referencing the older 3, maybe partially for early brownie points idk, but since lfl, her music's been made to be listened to from a more immersive pov, where lfl has it's hopes, nfr, lessons and warnings, cotcc reflective of the property of transition and changes, to blue banisters, meant the most to feel like a ghost.

simply put, and i'm not sure many others might've thought about it, or even brought it up before is that, past the straightforward sounds that came from her more self-albums, her immersing and having more of a conversation w current times actually shows much growth in her artistry that a lot of people seem to overlook. this in tandem w the fact that she didn't mind it when she loses fans in that one awkward monica bellucci inspired shoot interview, it makes total, straightforward sense.

i like to very much think that lana knows this as she creates, bc the times can be reflective of current society, which makes it feel ironic but also fitting w how it's being interacted with. i'm a big advocate of understanding the feel, and i attribute her artistic choices as such/ and possibly her trusting her own past work might be an indicator of things, but apart from her part reputation for being lazy, for the most part i do think she hears what her audience does say, it's just that for me, at least my theory's been that her music's taken more of a broader approach and intentions to that of a more immersive effect that compliments the album's themes.

personally, i understood btd's hustle and drive, not much of an angry person, but understood uv's despair, paradise's viceland, honeymoon's mystique, and lfl's hopes for a generation and more. but post that, like nfr's tragedies reflective of a society gone more towards selfish but not of the self, cotcc's need for freedom, and bb's healing. the latter album's at least for me, have been more profound and impactful. of course i'll always be open to her revisiting some of her past devices, but i'm completely content for the most part, for how her music's been. it's kinda interesting how much of it's been hitting close for me, but it also just makes me think that bc i might be more readily understanding and knowing of it, it being more relatable, it comes a bit comforting to know that she's also growing and sharing/ developing with her audience.

i do wonder when her more vanity project album might cycle in, and that it'd fit w a renewing of self from bb's deconstructing of public persona, and how that might sound like these days.

This is so true, I also see people calling Venice Bitch her magnum opus(The whole "magnum opus" idea is also really annoying, at least for me I feel it sets an unattainable standard and diminishes the rest of Lana's work) which is annoying. Also, nfr stans are the worst because most of them became fans bc of nfr, so they will not hesitate to bash her other albums in order to praise nfr. I wish I could like nfr but I just don't, largely because of how annoying fans of it are.

This! The way we got Young & Beautiful, Summer Wine, Once Upon a Dream, Chelsea Hotel, Tropico & probably forgetting some, between Paradise and Ultraviolence. Her Glory era.

As a pre Born to Die fan, I think NFR is her best work. This seems to me to not usually be the case with long time fans it seems?

also, I respect all opinions. All her work is lovely.

The lack of bass, percussions and overall bite in her music past Lust for Life (except for a few key tracks; emphasis on "few key tracks") is the biggest let down.

It's all very flat and it lacks peaks and valleys.

Same :true:

I really do love every single one of her albums though, she hasn't missed once yet for me.
