this brings an interesting conversation; I think [hopefully] that Taylor has realized that now she is on top of the world (and literally has been since the 1989 era), the next stop in her career is to be the opposite of what you said: nothing, nothingness. With the clear critical success and acclaim from the folk-more double era and re-tuning RED and Fearless to be more mature with the TV versions, the days of "lets make sure every song can be a radio hit on this album" (something she has herself said on how she arranges tracklists in other words) are coming to an end, and her legacy has to start being more serious, especially when so much of the second half of her legacy (post 1989 - pre-Lover) has been getting in "beef" with people such as... Kim Kardashian . Working with new people such as Aaron Dessner brought a refreshing side of her music abilities; I'm hopeful this new record will continue that change of maturity and legacy building

It's true that I haven't heard anything from Taylor, I'm judging because she doesn't inspire me, but maybe her last records (rather praised by the press and fans) are good and more accomplished. To do with Lana, I agree with your message.

probably not an unpopular opinion, but

 

it bothers me how literally female artist who does anything slightly alternative is automatically said to have “lana del rey vibes”, like, do the people who say this even listen to lana? some random girl making a rock song with electric guitars doesn’t automatically make her a “lana del rey vibe”

but i don’t mean this as any shade towards alternative female singers, it’s just bothersome to me that people can’t think of anything else to say besides “lana del rey vibes” just because a female artist isn’t making bubblegum pop

 

also, semi-related, it bugs me a lot to see people in the comment sections of mazzy star videos hate on lana del rey and accuse her of copying them, it’s so inaccurate, i do not understand the comparison at all, they are barely alike! and i gurantee you that if lana really did take inspiration from mazzy star/hope sandoval, she would be open about it, like she is with all of the artist she’s inspired by…

I miss the time when Lana worked with interesting musicians, and I put The Weeknd in the pile. The 2 were commercially interesting with close universes. Taylor is nothingness, nothing happens. She can do better . I would still listen to the title because after all they may surprise me but I don't expect anything.

 

This is my opinion, don't take it as an offense because I respect your choices. You guys are lucky, your time is finally coming, you must be so happy.

 

I would have liked a duet between her and Marina. But business and business. 

I don't like Taylor neither but what's not to get? Taylor is a fan, they both work closely with Jack, and both like country & pop music. If anything, the collaboration makes more sense than not. It's just Taylor's clean image that makes the pairing seem polarizing. All of that said I think the song will be good and it's just one song that probably won't even get single treatment,  not a country album with Nikki Lane tea.

That's just a testament to Lana's impact and relevance in our culture. She's the Queen of Alternative, comparisons will come naturally even if they're not really there.

does blue banister have great lyrics? Yes – But in a few songs (text book, blue banisters and ww). Unfortunately, the production isn’t that good.

If cotcc had the same deepness (lyrics-wise) as these three songs, people would stan it soooo much more.

I love that Lana has sung about domestic violence, substance abuse and death. It's what has made her unique, and I love her for sharing that experience with her listeners. As someone who relates, I find great solace in her music.

 

Also, Cola being about Harvey Weinstein is a big kiii. She really gave no fucks. She's a legend for that idc. One of her best songs too.
