Lana covers Galore Magazine

Recommended Posts

i guess this doesn't surprise me since lana gives off a lot of cat power vibes anyway, but it's nice to hear her say it. also wondering if she maybe mentioned cat power due to her well known battle with alcohol?

I've been wondering if she'd claim any direct inspo from her on Ultraviolence. For as much as she said, like, Elvis and Springsteen for BTD, I don't think she's revealed any artistic influences for UV (even if some are obvious). But I can't listen to Pretty When You Cry or Flipside without thinking of Cat Power.

I'm becoming a broken record comparing Lana and Chan, but I'd argue that CP is one of the few acts that Lana cites as an influence that she actually sounds like. And 'Get Drunk' is the best Cat Power song that Chan never wrote.

Such a good good interview. And you genuinely felt the sweet and honest vibe they were having the whole way through reading this. It was pretty much 2 sisters having great conversation. But for a magazine.

With all the weird references to the AKA period in the interview, including saying it was "the most enriching time as an artist", it strikes me doubly weird that no reference to a possible AKA re-release (including why there won't ever be one) is made.

On a different topic:

I think KJazz, is this:

You can get a stream of it in itunes by

view menu --> more (submenu) -->internet radio (choice)-->jazz (tab) --> then search for 88.1

if you don't have "internet radio" already as a "view" menu choice

I think she means it's the only thing she ever listens to on her phone. Obviously she listens to other things, otherwise it would be impossible for her to know when people were ripping off her swag.  :troll:

I'm so happy about this interview ! It's personal and cute and Chuck doesn't ask the same lame questions all the other journalists used to have.

I'm also quite excited to hear that she is already working on the next album ! I know that this doesn't mean much when it comes to Lana but at least she's not talking about quitting album releases again.

oh and please take a moment to appreciate this beautiful face and make up  :icant:

Is she working on an EP? I HOPE SO!

She has talked in other interviews about making an EP to go with Ultraviolence, I can't remember when but in one interview she said something like:

"I'm really happy at the moment because I'm starting to visualise an EP that would go perfectly with Ultraviolence, which hasn't happened since Born To Die: The Paradise Edition"

I find her perspective when it comes to writing an album really fascinating. This shows that Paradise could have been a seperate record, but it's sonic similarities to BTD were what convinced Lana to make it an add-on to that record. It shows that each record, in Lana's eyes, has to be a very distinctive piece of her discography, she could never make two records that are too similar, which I guess validates her description of each new record as an "era"

That said, it also seems like Paradise shows a bit of the pop-rock vibes that became pivitol on UV, so if she does release an EP sometime next year, that'll probably give us a pretty clear idea of where she's heading for her next "era"

I'm gunna agree with you on that, I was talking to my boyfriend about that quite sometime ago. It would be still too early for an EP for Lana, I think. Perhaps 2016, I'm afraid. Follow by a new album shortly a year after that, I'm guessing.

I must agree. I love her concepts of albums, how she wants them to be cohesive and complete bodies of work. Whereas many people just throw a bunch of songs together. Like she knew she wanted eleven songs on UV and she knew the titles of CWband OM before they were written and that she wanted to end the record with TOW cover. Just shows how much care and emotion she puts into her art

This thread is kinda out dated, but I want to find a high quality photo of this tumblr_nv7542PgKq1rk2e30o1_r1_540.jpg

I really want to put this photo on a big-ass canvas or something, and then hang it up on my wall. It's so beautiful, it's the perfect photo to put on my wall.
