good ones is still getting more play in the US (it’s already at a higher radio chart position than 1999 ever was here), i’m pretty sure SNL was the labels way of Majorly boosting it on radio but alas… postponed

she should push baby as it sounds the best out of the singles along with good ones.

Charli's a bit of a grey area when it comes to singles & promo singles. Her songs are barely ever sent to radio, nothing from the entire HIFN campaign was pushed at radio. 1999 was the last one that got sent to US radio, BIOYL didn't even get an impact date. So the majority of her "official singles" don't even go to radio anyway.

 

So the fact that New Shapes got an official music video & (cancelled) SNL performance slot gave it more promo than the majority of her previous singles from XCX3 & 4. 

 

I just feel that investment could've gone to another song.

Artists literally ALWAYS push a promo single on SNL? Like the other user said, the two performances are almost always an official single and a promo single… and considering Good Ones was still bubbling under on radio at the time, it’s clear which song they were truly pushing.

promo singles usually don’t have videos but whatever-it was never marketed as a promo release so you can keep the narrative.

to some people sampling = ripping off which is just incorrect
