@ it's pathetic that it's taken you nearly 3 years to "pay everyone back" but still have the nerve to buy a bunch of fancy things and buy a concert ticket. It's not that fucking hard to get a minimum wage job and make enough money to pay everyone back. With a steady work schedule, you could pay everyone back in as little as 5- months.

Obviously Moytin Shkreli deserves to be banned. But in some ways that would be letting him off too easy. It would also close off a potential avenue for victims to harass him for payment or him to contact victims to repay them if he ever finds a shred of decency. However, I'm going to mod-queue him so he can't abuse this forum to troll the people he scammed and rub it in their faces without us ripping him a new one first for trying. I've also edited his profile.

 

You're just shitting your pants because twice now I have encouraged people to pursue criminal complaints against you.

 

What's fucking sick about this whole thing is I seem to feel more guilt about having remained a bystander longer than I feel I should have than you do for ripping people off.

 

I guess I can think of one thing Malala got that you deserved more.

 

As someone who's been paranoid about legal threats to the site longer than you've been a member here, I'm really sympathetic to this concern, BUT...

 

A crime was committed here. Involving a fairly substantial amount of money. It would be wrong to discourage people from pursuing justice because it would be a hassle or stressful for you or out of fear of a low-probability risk.

 

That said, perhaps that risk could be better managed if this effort was coordinated by one of us on the mod staff.

 

 

Shun him. He should be a complete and utter pariah among the fanbase until he pays everyone back.

 

I do not support violence or threats of violence. But I think just about anything short of that should be done to make his experience as unpleasant as possible anytime he's recognized at a concert. He has absolutely no business being at any concerts until he pays everyone back.

 

Not that I really needed your input, but frankly he deserves what will come to him, and yes it will happen lmao

I filed a report with the FBI yesterday.

 

They stressed that it's vital for individual members from this site to report their losses as well. And - like I said - I think Evil Entity needs to submit a comprehensive report with screen shots of Moy's posts, info from this thread, and the original page showing donations.

Oh this is still going on? I guess I should catch myself back up. Thought Moy would have long disappeared by now. Still waiting on my own refund.

Honestly this situation could have gone a lot better. It's possible to do private copies of the book if it was solely kept out of public domain/for profit. Using licensed pictures may have been a different issue (unless you are the printer or have direct access to a printing machine). Legality of the book aside the biggest issue was Moy using the money for personal gain.

 

IF a legal investigation did occur then the customers and this forum wouldn't be affected. The book was never published and Moy allegedly stated that several printing companies turned him down when they saw licensed photos. So really the investigation should only be looking into Moy's scam.

On another note. Anyone who has private photos of Moy should not be posting it. Depending where you live it's most likely illegal and Moy can sue for revenge porn and possible extortion.

I had more medieval town square antecedents in mind-- like the stocks or being made to wear a barrel-- but yeah, that sort of public shaming is the intent.
