Speculations on Lana's relationship with her mother

Recommended Posts

'my momma' is kinda disturbing

"My momma she would love you like I love you

If she ever met you, if she ever knew

My momma sure would fall right on top of you
If she’d ever saw you, she’d be smitten too

I’ll never take you home, I want you all for my own

Don’t let my momma hear your pretty song"

makes it seem like she got some legit daddy issues if she feels competitive with her own mother. maybe she doesn't sing about her often because theres something a bit 'too' dark there. or nothing at all, who knows

i always thought it was: "is it wrong mom that i think its kinda fun when i hit you in the back of the head with a gun?" but i guess i misheard? lmao

that makes me wonder if there was any sort of indiscretion.. like she's angry at her mother for something that happened within the family and kind of using this song to get back at her?  And Lana thinks she is ~born to be the other woman~ or destined to be like her mom lol idk lemme not slander poor patricia

mommy and daddy issues???  :ahhney:

It was her mom who finally decided to send her to the Boarding School. If Lana took her man home she would have tried to ruin the relationships, or at least Lana thought this. And so of course she doesn't really like her. Plus she's probably not an interesting person anyway.

Just tried to devise a theory about her real father being dead (that's the way my father made his life an art) or maybe Patricia being an evil stepmom but all three little Grant children look like a perfect mix of them both so

Her mom prob just grounded her loads

I think Lana is one of those girls who feel like her momma didn't do enough. Like, instead of dealing with Lizzy's problems and helping her trough it, she sent her away to boarding school. I have never seen pics of Lana with her mom, but it seems like she gets along with her dad more when you listen to her songs.

Well, it's pretty common. Fathers prefer often their girls and mothers their sons, daughters prefer their father.  :pft:

I agree, but at the same I get the impression that in this case it went a bit further than that, if My Momma's lyrics are anything to go by.
