Burnt Norton (Interlude)

Recommended Posts

Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.

If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.

What might have been is an abstraction

Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.

What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.

Footfalls echo in the memory

Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden.

I love this so much. The way she speaks is so eloquent and beautiful. I wonder if it'll sound very different on the album as the one we've heard is a phone recording?? I kinda like the phone sounding one though

so? it's not part of the title 'Burnt Norton' it's just an indication of what the track is

It is part of the title though. On iTunes and her website the song is listed as 'Burnt Norton (Interlude)' :)

everytime i think i got lana figured out, she does something like this. i thought she was kinda a poseur with all this lit stuff -- she never seemed that knowledgable about her so-called "inspirations" -- but i mean this isnt even a popular poem by Eliot. its a little tidbit. i guess she's just not a fan of exhibiting all her bookshness/knowledge to the public ya know?

Call it what you wanna call it, it makes no odds to anyone else's iTunes, but yeah, she titled it that way.
