What I hate the most is that if she wouldn't drop names, this whole thing would never blow up. This means that her genuine critic is getting behind the names, people made it feel like it's not important and take it completely out of context. (I hope yall get what I mean, I'm not a native speaker)

Um, I don't like this mindset. I don't think it sets a good example for the forum to tell a user who just joined here that "hating Lana is our specialty" because that's absolutely not what this forum is about nor promotes. LanaBoards is intended to be a positive and healthy place for discussion. Of course, all sorts of opinions are welcome even if they lean on the negative or critical side, just as long as they don't cross any sort of line. With that being said, I really don't like to see users encouraging hate. Blatant hate is absolutely not tolerated. There's a fine but very clear line between constructive criticism and blatant hate, and LanaBoards does not at all promote the latter. I still feel weird about speaking publicly during this time, but I just couldn't ignore this message.

I just got registered cause I didnt know this forum existed. I almost read every single page of this thread. And some of you spend more time talking sh*t about Lana than haters themselves lol. Are you even fans? If you think shes ignorant, racist, whatever; why do you even bother following her?! Honestly Lana should post a long video via livestream or something because I feel like she can’t properly convey her thoughts to text as well as she thinks. She’s a good speaker and I think she could come back from this if she really uses her voice to help people understand what she meant, and to also acknowledge why some people are upset with her post (if she even acknowledges that at all).

 

As for these insta stans, they got what they deserved considering they don’t have two brain cells to rub together to realise what they were saying to her in the dms was wrong. I have no doubt they said some stupid shit hence why they haven’t posted the full convo with her to back themselves up.

I don’t comment much on her « behaviour » because we don’t know her personally. Plus who she should be hers alone ; her art is what we can make ours, in a way. The two posts weren’t perfect but were far from being that controversial.

She did say herself she was ADHD or, at least, she is impulsive. So, to me, it’s what it’s about, when she comments some more. I get she is defensive (who wouldn’t be after the early backlash she received with BTD?), and I have made a couple of posts about the music industry that is very misogynistic and has a very limited view of what « female power / feminism » should be (it’s pretty much to want sex all the time to be liberated).

My only question, when I saw the first post, was: Did she get dragged down recently? Because after NFR, the critics really toned down and people are finally getting that she is a talented singer-songwriter.

So. as a recap. can we just get the facts straight? 

- she name dropped bc she liked those artists. she comments trying to better elaborate what she meant. 
- secondary post. She's got control of her story. if the women she mentioned don't wanna b associated its fine by her. 
- it seems like Ariana may have reached out. Ariana still follows her on insta. did she ever follow her back? 

- Lana and FKA never followed each other. 
- twitter running.
- someone deactivated their insta account bc they got put off w Lana. 
- there was a group chat, with still no cohesive/full screenshots of the conversation. 

points: 
- she's allowed to express herself. there are women that feel like they don't have a place in feminism because they might be overpowered by stronger women. 
- not racist, she actually loves the artists, and was probably looking for support. 
- she just wants to express herself and not feel like she's being turned into someone who's hysterical for wanting to do so. 
- there's a difference between knowing who Lana is on a personal basis, and being a fan. of flippin course, but just to reiterate. 

So. for those reading the thread regarding the previous happenings/ updates. is there anything else to add? if anyone wants to quote me, can we keep it more factually based rather than surmising? i think it'd be good to just try and get everyone who wants to get up to speed, up to speed w/o having to glean thru the 50ish pages if they didn't want to.

the problem has shifted from her initial statement (which i almost completely agreed with) to her reaction and way of handling this, which is very common nowadays. it‘s important to realize this because with these responses the reader kind of loses room for interpretation and the benefit of the doubt. it‘s so tricky because we know the kind of person she is and the initial criticism was definitely unfair and too harsh, especially the tone in which people expressed it which obviously made her react. but now she‘s in this feedback loop where people accused her of being offensive so she‘s starting to actually respond in an offensive way. don‘t get me wrong, i do not want her to be demure now. stand up for yourself. but be relfective and show willingness to listen (which is different from agreeing), which admittedly is hard when so many people critiquing her are downright nasty. i wish she would aknowledge it without being offensively defensive. i‘m not saying this solely bc of pr. i‘ve had my fair share of impulsive social media posts in the past and seldom has good come out of it. it‘s not the only way to authentically express your feelings. one does not have to take the high road, the middle road would be enough. just don‘t stoop low.

i love her and understand her and i have faith she‘ll find a reasonable way to solve this one day, i hope it‘s sooner than later cause career wise she‘s absolutely playing with fire here and i hope she realises this
