Gramma (Blue Ribbon Sparkler Trailer Heaven)

Recommended Posts

Gramma said she'll leave the lights on for me
Gramma said the flags are waving for me
Gramma said that somewhere out there
There's a good man, waiting for me

A-M-E-R-I-C-A, all i wanna do is play
See the city every day, pretty party nation

Tell me that you think I'm good
Happy that I make you glad
'Cause I don't wanna think I'm bad, Gramma
I don't wanna think I'm bad

Gramma said she'll leave the lights on for me
Gramma said the flags are waving for me
Gramma said that somewhere out there
There's a good man, waiting for me
Gramma said she'll leave the lights on for me
"Don't you know, you don't need a thing?"
Gramma said that somewhere out there
There's a good man, waiting for me

T-R-O-U-B-L-E, trouble's what feels good to me
Crazy ass since I was three, now I'm out to getcha

But I been better lately, Mom
And I'm in love with everyone
And I don't wanna think I'm wrong
Just for feeling pretty

Gramma said she'll leave the lights on for me
Gramma said the flags are waving for me
Gramma said that somewhere out there
There's a good man, waiting for me

I wanna be the whole world's girl, Gramma
I wanna be the whole world's girl
I wanna be the whole world's girl, Gramma
Tell me do you think that's wrong?

"Don't cry, bunny, crazy girl
Don't you know you are the world?
Every time you feel unsure

Try, remember what you are."

Gramma said she'll leave the lights on for me
Gramma said the flags are waving for me
Gramma said that somewhere out there
There's a good man, waiting for me
Gramma said she'll leave the lights on for me
"Honey, don't you know, you have everything?"
Gramma said that somewhere out there
There's a good man, waiting for me

(Gramma said she'll leave the lights on for me
Gramma said the flags are waving for me
Gramma said that somewhere out there
There's a good man, waiting for me)

OK sorry for my terrible topic title couldn't think of a bloody thing to call it

Anyway, in Gramma the chorus is "Gramma said she'd leave the lights on for me, Gramma said the flags are wavin' for me, Gramma said that somewhere out there there's a good man waitin' for me" & every time I listen to it (like everyday) I interpret her saying she'd go out partying & Gramma would leave the porch light on.

Some people (I've heard) said "oh she meant leave the hall light/night light on for her cause she's a kid" but if she's a kid why would Gramma be talking about 'finding a man' so early in her life?

I hope this hasn't been posted elsewhere & I've put it in the right place but some of it is the way you interpret lyrics vs. what I do. Just wanting some feedback on this.  :P

It's my favorite Lana song and I'll tell you why. It's just so... Touching to me. Although my life is completely different from Lana's, it's always been "sweet like cinamone" since I was born, I often feel I share the same soul with her. So, particularly about my feelings about "Gramma": the thing about "wanting to be whole world's girl", trying to pleasure everyone, feeling you are not good enough... This is just the way I am. And at the same time you hear "Honey, don't you know, you have everything" and you feel guilty about being unhappy because you should be fucking happy and grateful for everything. Well, maybe at least "somewhere out there is a good man waiting for me"...

And the wind I know it’s cold

Rob confirmed that the Gramma mentioned in this song is named Cynthia not Madeline (Lana's "m" tattoo). IDK if she is Rob or Pat's mother. Not sure how relevant this is, but thought it was interesting. 11v6u5s.jpg

I think it's her maternal grandmother.
