the swapping between threads reminds me of when I went to Cleveland to see a free Beyonce/Jay-Z concert and they kept closing different exits and the crowds just got bigger and large swaths of people would have to migrate over to another entrance on the other side of the stadium, but then more people would show up and there wouldn't even be room there
