the lyrics are phenomenal (and also the only song that Lana has ever said ‘sorry’ in (and she doesn’t even mean it in this song ))

I know a lot of people consider this song to be overhyped, but I really think it's worth the hype - it is genuinely an astonishing song. The production itself is enough to make it incredible, but then you take into account the lyrical storytelling + the way Lana delivers her vocals on this song (which yes, baby voice, but I think it was somewhat in an intentional way because of what the song is about). It's a genius song and I will die on the hill that it deserved a video

An iconic song. Should be considered an all-time great/must-listen/masterpiece in the history books of pop music. The lyrics alone...

 

The tragedy is that she never really did another song like this, and I’m surprised nobody else even tried to do their version of it. Everybody did either a Video Games or Born to Die influenced song. Guess that’s what makes it so legendary.
