So that's the neat thing that the western world is learning after years of all of that stuff you've mentioned, and that thing is that life goes on. For so long, it's been perceived that all of that is something that only 3rd world countries experience - and that's quite obviously not true. But the thing that people are going to have to wrap their heads around is that....life goes on.

People are going to get married. People are going to have birthdays. People are going to get hired and celebrate a new job. People are going to date and fall in love. People are going to have babies. There's going to be fashion shows. There's going to be concerts. The corner market is still going to have hot coffee and bagels for you on your way to work in the morning, regardless of a terrorist attack the next city over.

Life doesn't stop. It gets hard. It gets sad. It gets confusing. It gets angering. But it never stops.

In the context of the thread and what I think you're pulling at - musical artists can only do but so much, and have control over but so much, and while they could use their platforms for something else, they could also choose to just use it for themselves, and be petty. And that's ok, because life goes on, and while it would be so awesome if everyone was on the same cognitive wavelength and pulled together all areas of life to improve things in a certain direction - that's just not how the world works, and sometimes.... we just need some beefing out of touch billionaires and music artists to provide some contrast and remind us what is truly important in the world, and what is utterly stupid, and the byproduct is our entertainment in the process.

Anyway that's my morning introspection (and I haven't even had my coffee yet).

No you're right and I'm not one of those saying all artists must necessarily use their platform etc. And youre right in saying that its always been likes this, its just now that western world got the news, I think COVID broke Maya veil of illusion... but idk things still feels kinda off and Taylor Swift is probably the worst simulacrum of the state of the world. 

Idk these billionaires beefing and theres ethnic cleansing, wars, authoritarian regimes rising around the world. I am always so baffled at how they are so out of touch with reality. I know these things have no direct link but they seem so small when plunged into everyday reality.

If u think the XCX World songs are bad u just got bad taste in music #idk 8 years later and those songs still sound FRESH, these are pop classics! Sidenote I'm pretty sure the leakiversary was like 3 days ago omg a huge day in Lanaboards history, like it really changed the trajectory of her entire career... And in the end it was for the better cause the public was Not ready yet to appreciate an album like that in 2017, and without the leak we never would've gotten Pop 2 and ultimately Brat. When all is said and done she truly won in the end.
