Really loved The Clearing on my first listen - but seeing a yet another 11-track album from a British artist once again made me think... Isn't it funny how the rules of the industry shape the form of creative self-expression?* In the UK, it is the combined streams of the best performing 10 tracks of an album that are considered by the Official Charts Company - unlike all the streams of all the tracks on the album in the US. So, for British artists - especially on the alt/indie side (=with smaller budgets, to put it bluntly) - there really is no incentive to make long, substantial albums... I guess, the reasoning behind this rule is that it 'levels out the playing field' on their local market a bit - but I wonder if that ultimately contributes to the fact that British musicians fell off the year-end global best-seller charts for the first time in 20 years last year. 10-11 tracks are not enough to break through globally in the 24/7 connectivity/attention economy/late-stage-capitalism on steroids times we're living in - and boyy, doesn't the British music industry need homegrown superstars to stay afloat!.. The Arts are always the canary in the coalmine in the times of Austerity, arent' they? Uh, probably the wrong place to get into this topic, admittedly. Let's say, all that just to say, yes, Wolf Alice deserve to be way more popular on the global stage!
* - that's not just music industry, that history goes as far back as XIX century publishing and Charles Dickens' 3-part novels

oh my god charli is headlining a festival in korea in 2 months i got my ticket and i'm so excited!!
even though korea is quite wealthy and into a lot of pop artists, it's quite rare for an artist to actually perform here because there aren't big enough stadiums and usually if the artist just performs in japan instead then korean fans will fly over there. but charli is coming here! for us! for me!!!
