with Henry and Bluebird lyrics, it really feels like Lana is the right person who will stay, so I can see where she was coming from with TRPWS album title..I'm really curious what the new title is

I honestly can't remember when there was an instant appreciation for slow songs..People begged for Cherry Blossom and Nectar because they were unleaked, and that alone has high street value for fans.
Even back in 2015, Honeymoon was pretty widely disliked by fans for being slow, and it wasn't until many years later it was appreciated for the gorgeous body of work it is. I think it's just the cycle Lipsters are in, and I think this song will end up being appreciated sooner or later

henry really didn't wow me that much if i’m honest, so i am so relieved i love bluebird so much. that being said, some people are the opposite and prefer henry...
and you know what... that is fine! because taste is subjective

i’m really puzzled at this because bluebird really (to me) is not as simple as people are making it out to be. the instrumental around 2:00 is so layered and thought out & it evokes the same emotions those other tracks give me, if not more. she just does it in a much more succinct and subtle way than, say, she did in fingertips

Paris Texas is literally her singing karaoke over another artists instrumental
like I love it and OB but I swear everyone woke up and decided to view this song so unfairly lol

It’s midnight and I’ve finally gotten to listen to it too! My gosh it swells so beautifully, the strings sound more… better? Perfected? here. I think I understand what she meant with American songbook, this sounds like it would fit right in. Beautifullllllll ugh!
I have a small worry though that I might not enjoy this album as much as her previous ones though, I’m not much for country. But it’s very nice to hear guitar driven songs instead of piano for once. But it’s too early to judge, I’ll have to wait for more singles to the entire album to know how I’ll feel about it.

That lyric reminded me of the end of her Coachella performance when she used the wild woman archetype with the bird cage

I wonder if birds are a big symbol/theme this era. I’m sure someone else has a better explanation, but it seems like she’s learned to fly away from past relationships that were incompatible and kept her trapped in her cage. Maybe her glass ship learned how to fly

People need to learn not to judge a Lana song too quickly, one listen is not enough to process. I just had a 5 hour drive and listened like 50 times, it's so good
Very simple but such a classic feeling and I love the lyrics. A sad country song with just enough hope to make you feel that everything will work out in the end once she finds the strength to leave a bad situation. She's really positioning herself as the heroine of a classic American western in this album, I can't wait to see where it all goes.

We're having the first gorgeous spring day here in NYC--and the Bluebird has seized me officially...I Love It.

I love it so much. It’s hopeful but full of sorrow at the same time. The bluebird as a symbolic aspiration towards a freedom that she doesn’t yet have is an incredibly effective lyrical device and captures a sentiment that has been present throughout her writing since the beginning.
It’s refreshing lyrical territory for Lana but still manages to situate itself in the biographical narrative she’s created through her more recent “self-revealing” releases. She manages to capture the essence of a great American standard by appealing to emotion through the use of cultural iconography—like the titular bluebird—while still chronicling experiences that feel incredibly specific to her (like the lyrics’ allusion to a troubled romantic relationship).
Sonically, it’s warm, hazy, and has an obvious palette of sound. Between this song and Henry, it’s clear that she is as concerned with the stylistic aspects of this album as she was with the lyrical aspects on Ocean Blvd, if not more. That should be a given, since a foray into “country music” would naturally entail a conscious embrace of the genre, but it’s nonetheless a welcomed return to have Lana adapt a specific genre of sound the way she did with rock and jazz on Ultraviolence and Honeymoon.
Also, I don’t know if it was mentioned already but the line “As the wake of my past crashes in” seems to have come up, albeit differently, in her NMPA speech (at 5:38)!

It’s not her fault that people made shit up in their head about how it will sound and then we’re wrong when it didn’t sound like that
her fans are her biggest enemies I swear. Begging and crying and screaming for “bops” and then trashing her output when it doesn’t fit that aesthetic, when why would it when she has literally never made that type of music, especially not in the last 7-10 years

I like that she stays purely symbolic, so you can read a lot into her lyrics. No introspection like Ocean Blvd, where most of the lyrics were about her own life situation. I think listeners will be able to identify with that better.

I mean yes it's not flashy at all but for me even on the first listen it felt like an instant classic (whereas Henry felt quite messy before I grew to like it). This genuinely feels like an "American standard" which is what she said she was going for anyway with this album but the sheer talent it takes to pull that off successfully is crazy.
I'm truly blown away, it brought tears to my eyes, also not y'all acting like this isn't the woman that released LMLYLAW as a lead single like come on we've been here done that either get on the ride or say ciao.

I dont know what are some people already complaining for but for me, "Bluebird" is exactly what I wanted from Lana when she expresses she wants to have her proper country era. This is the kind of sound that I always fantasize that Lana would be doing and my God, it cant be more suitable for her.
This song is straight out of The American songbook, like come on yall this is what legends music sounds like, this is a perfect American standard and classic. Country is meant to be like this.

I figured this album cycle wouldn't be for everyone but didn't expect to see so many people not feeling this one. I personally really like it, but definitely prefer Henry. I think this will sit well within the full project.
