I love love love, and will ALWAYS point out the little "Lay me down tonight" in the background of Ultraviolence. It's my favorite line in fmwuttt just bc of the way it sounds.

Oh I love this. I could write an endless list but the first one that popped into my mind is the small guitar riff (?) that starts appearing in parts of the song just after the start of the second chorus of Heroin (2:39)

in her cover of chelsea hotel no. 2 she sings the last line in such a way that makes me feel so AAHHH
she goes “that’s all… idonteventhinkof you.. that ofteenn …”
i love how she delivers this line as it sort of feels like she’s lying to the listener & to herself as well!

also love that part of a&w
“it’s not about havin someone to love me anymore”
    ”oh, ok.”
she says it in annoyed way and she’s talking to herself which is just so

it's not that the music on bb is bad, but the whole album concept seems to be confusing. the title track inspired by ladies of the canyon , something with colors (e.g. painting the banisters, the blue period by picasso), covid-19, body positivity and more ... a lot of things are mixed up which don't really fit together. But anyway I enjoyed it when it was released.

This is easily one of Lana's emotional songs ever. The composition is actually insane, it all sounds like an Ascension. It's Lana's post-mortem letter, intra vitam.

The song starts with the choir warming up / practicing, one of them makes a mistake and then they try again. Lana herself stated that this intro was very meaningful, and it actually is; as long as you're alive, you can always try again, you always have another chance. I also think that the inclusion of the Rocky Mountains line, which was originally meant to first appear towards the end of the song, has a lot of meaning because the very first person she's paying homage to in this album is her late uncle Dave. She mourns her uncle first and then goes to appreciate and protect those around her who are still alive. "My pastor told me / When you leave, all you take / Is your memories". These simple lyrics have so much power, like she found a new meaning in life, which is her family. That piece of advice changed her and her perspective on life. Compassion, to think of each other, to be good people and think about the legacy we leave on Earth; do you think about heaven? "I'm doing the hard stuff / I'm doing my time / I'm doing it for us / For our family line", oh god, the DELIVERY in this part is incredible. I think it might have to do with her kind of reuniting her family? She's doing the hard stuff to keep the Grants intact and cared for (I also think by "the Grants" she means all her family friends too). She's taking a maternal role, doing the hard stuff.

In Kintsugi, she sings about how death made her life "flash in front" of her, and also made her wonder who would be at her future funeral, like a movie. For the outro of The Grants, she mentions multiple scenes in such a beautiful, relatable yet cinematic way. She's actually ascending, letting the light in, taking all these memories - the place where her uncle died, the voice of John Denver, her niece, her grandmother's final days... And also that despite and after all, it's a beautiful life, and she wants everyone to keep that in mind until our very last breath.

What do you's think about the Superman movie? I haven't seen it yet but probably will soon. Many Pro-Israeli's seem offended.

Well yes... Palestinian leadership and surrounding Arab states rejected the plan because they viewed it as a foreign colonial entity being fueled by Britian and the US.

I don’t really know which thread to put this in but, it’s so funny to me that Kai Trump (DJT’s granddaughter) has a clear obsession with Lana Del Rey 😭

I love this thread. @111 thanks for compiling this.

I've had these same thoughts as well. Lana is a liberal, not a leftist. There is a difference- she makes this distinction very clear with "the problem is not capitalism." Leftists oppose capitalism.

She also agrees with Marianne Williamson's views on reparations (link - go to 2:00).
