There's only one right answer to this question: Venice Bitch.
  2. FineChaiNa liked a post in a topic by barttttender in 57.5
They're completely different songs, and there's no need to compare them.

AW is a lengthy, experimental psychedelic/trap ballad, and 57.5 is a pop/country Americana bop.

No songs on OB compares to 57.5, and that's what makes this song so exciting. It's something completely new and fresh for Lana, lyrically, thematically, sonically.

That's what I like about this upcoming record: brand new themes (marriage, married life, fame, southern lifestyle). Whereas I feel like there was a lot of crossover between BB and OB, and even Chemtrails (family ties, legacy, getting older, loneliness...).

I'm hoping for more songs on LDR10 that stay clear of themes we've digested in full over the past three records. Aka more songs like Stars Fell on Alabama, Quiet in the South, and 57.5, and fewer like Bluebird because that song is nothing new in Lana's canyon imo (heartbreak and breaking free from a toxic relationship, been there, done that).

I don't understand Fantano when he's praising Bluebird and dissing Henry for sounding like 'something she would have written 10 years ago." Thematically, Lana has done Bluebird in one form or another at least 30 times before. Whereas Henry at least finds a new country framework to express the same toxic relationship ideas. Just some thoughts.

Sorry to Bjork (whom I love), but Madonna takes this one.

Madonna doesn't get nearly enough credit for the sheer volume of great songs she's written in her lifetime. Yes, the quality's gone to shit over the past 10 years, but her legacy is astounding.

    Next up: Radiohead Vs. Coldplay.

Who cares, we need an MV for 57.5 anyways.

This song slaps so hard, even after all these years.

I loved it from day 1 (especially the whistle part), but I still come back to it. I think it's one of the key tracks on LFL, along with Love, Lust for Life, and Summer Bummer. I'm glad it's nearing Lana's top 30 tracks on Spotify (343K and counting). Definitely an LDR essential.

Well, first of all, I also studied in the UK, too, and know that their educational system isn't all that lmao. Secondly, most universities won't be able to cover everything, and I'm sure the UK and most art unis generally aren't all that focused on 20th century America and artists like Rockwell and Warhol, unless you pick the illustration, pop art, or whatever module.

More importantly, this discussion isn't all that relevant because a musician has every right to reference any place, person or thing from their own culture. Lana is an American first, and I'm sure that referencing one of America's most iconic painters of all time was a no-brainer for her.

In her music, she also mentions or references Sylvia Plath, Chateau Marmont, Lake Placid, T.S. Elliot, Wilshire Boulevard,  Joni Mitchell, Pico Boulevard, Kings of Leon, New Port, Harry Nilsen, Rhode Island, Ella Fitzgerald, Beverly Center, Billy Joel, etc. It's all part of her world building as an American-first artist.

Most of these names will go over the heads of fans from East Europe, Africa, Iceland, China, Sri Lanka, etc, sure. But should she restrain from making those references in the age of Google and AI where you can find out exactly what she's referencing with a tap?

More than anything, she's a bit of a post-modern artist, and that means she relies heavily on quotes and references in her own art. This was the case from Day 1 when she referenced James Dean on Blue Jeans, or used Belinda Carlisle's famous 'heaven is a place on earth with you' line in Video Games. She basically arrived fully formed as (post modern) artist, complete with her visual references to 1950s Americana, flower crowns, blue jeans, and so on.

What would Lana be without these references? Far less American, far less specific, and far less Lana. So, no, I don't think it's important that some folks out there - yourself included - didn't know who Rockwell was. To quote Lana, "now you do."
And how wonderful that folks out there get to learn so much about America simply by listening to her music? Like, I'd never heard of Crosby, Still and Nash, for example, before the Bartender track. And the brilliant Plath is now surely being read by a whole bunch of girls out there who would have never known about her had Lana not name-dropped her. It's freakin' fabulous.

Final Destination: Bloodlines. The best popcorn horror flick I've seen since Abigayl.

Loads of fun, humor, twists and turns. The concept is ridiculous, as always, but they all jumped on it with full force to make it work - creatively and financially. The level of commitment is insane. 8/10.

I agree with this. Her whole vibe is "it's coming, you little shit." She doesn't feel any obligations in terms of commercial prospects. She'd rather lose money than put out an album she's not 80% happy with. Great for her and her artistic integrity, not so great for her fans.

But, for the record, I will be livid  if the quality's not there in the end (think Stand by Your Man AND Country Roads on a 13-truck record, and iffy reverbs everywhere). I need impeccable production on Stars Fell on Alabama and 57.5, in particular.

A Paradise style re-issue would be a total slay for LDR10. To be honest, with how many scraps and leftover she's got for each record, she could have easily 'Paradised' her every single album.

I appreciate the mention of Aviation on this forum, for the very first time.

A very, very underrated gem in her early career. A true testament to Lana's unique talents for chronicling American life (with the mention of Pensacola a particularly deft touch) that would later become a signature for her as a songwriter.

She already confirmed 57.5 is the next single (Thank fuck). "Coming in a few months." I reckon late August or early September (unless she delays that too). I'm assuming the reason why it's taking so long is that she's preparing an MV for it, given the audience's warm reaction. Maybe she'll do a concert-footage style video and she's gathering material from the UK tour and travels. Which would actually fit the vibe of the song (plus, she's never done a concert style video before).

As for the actual album, if the single is coming out in a "few months" and the tracklist hasn't been finalised, we're looking at November for the album release at the earliest. Let's say she finalises the tracklist by July 31st, and she sends it for vinyl pressing, etc, then we're looking it August, September, October for all of it to come together. If she takes two months to finalise the tracklist and album, then December. Don't even want to think beyond that.

Makes total sense. All I need is 57.5 on my iTunes (with IMPECCABLE PRODUCTION), and I can last till the end of the year.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, shall we? November is still a possibility, depending on when the album is done… December is a big no for record sales… January albums are always forgotten… Maybe February? March is usually when big releases begin, so maybe…
so winter or late winter is my guess
can’t believe I’m saying this btw  LDR10 is the music industry’s GOT’s Winds of Winter

It's so weird! No one else is so randomly casual with their song releases lmao.

Like, "here I am with this absolute banger that would top Billboard hot 100 in a matter of seconds, but I'm just gonna perform it for you this one time, and you're never gonna hear it again."

She chooses not to release a Cherry successor straight from her golden-age Paradise/Lust for Life eras, but happily drops an obvious B-side four-minute ballad fodder instead (Bluebird).

Our forever 'this is what I like, so this is what you're getting' queen
