This new single is the best and catchiest thing she released ever since Problematique. About time she made great music again.

It gets better with listenings, it's pretty cohesive.
It's a better album than Short but Short has more hits in it.

3 new tracks are great, better than many on the standard, but I expected more original songs for a deluxe, maybe 5. But she is working on her second album already so it's ok.

I miss the little things she made with her voice during debut era (her aahhhh were iconic) but there's still hope for them in the album, lol
I also personally love how her voice sounds in "Who I am".

Nice song ! Her voice is more recrgnisable during the verses but her vocal style has changed a lot and for the better.

Is a dance record, that covers "the pretty, the good and bad" that she has lived during the past years.
And yeah, she is indenpendant, which is the best thing she could do after how much she struggled with her last record label.

I used to love her when I was a teenager. I'm glad she found her way back to music. I understand how hard the industry can be. Maybe she found a way to do this independantly.
I'm pretty curious about what she's going to do.

October 17th. I am SO excited for this comeback, she has always been of my favorites because I find her tone super iconic and personal. Also loved her personality on "Dancing with the stars" so I really like her. Can't wait to hear the new era.

Maybe you need a lil snippet!

Ok so she confirmed on an instagram story that an album (and an interior design TV show) is in the works. 20 years later after her last single "A Toast to Men".
I guess you remember her (only) hit "I Wanna Be Bad" from 2001 and if you don't you are not a true pop culture fan, lol. Her debut album "Willa was Here" is one of the best pop albums of the bubblegumpop era.

She quit music after so many disappointments and has been asked about returning for many years. Her unreleased album "Sexysexobsessive" remains unleaked except for a handful of songs. In 2019 she came back to spotlight because she was on a TV show of interior design and had multiple interviews. In all of them she was asked about returning to music and always said no. She confirmed she was still writing songs though.

Apparentely she is coming with disco/dance/upbeat music (asked her about it), which is good news in my book, I was afraid about folk/country music. I don't know why her change of heart but I'm glad. She said she "connected" again with it because she was meant for creating art in one way (music) or another (interior design).

Okaaaay, so the album has grown on me already.😌 On constant repeat since Friday tbh.
    Bravo Zara!

I gotta admit that Euro Summer is bopping! But yeah, WHY didn't she release it as a single when it was actually summer.... And the fact that the album titled Midnight Sun release date's in the end of fkn September is....
At least I can see this as a sort of a birthday week present to myself from her lol.

    My absolute favs now are:
    - Blue Moon (I looooove the whistle notes!)
    - Hot & Sexy. Puss puss 97 on the number plate
    - Saturn's Return! So pretty. Ppl are truly right about it sounding like something by ms Caroline Polacheck! Interesting production to say the least.
    - Puss Puss 💋. Cute! The best part is obviously the switch up.  I'll admit tho that speaking outro is maybe a bit too long for my taste but oh well.

I hope for a deluxe so bad! The only album from her that ever got a deluxe before is Poster Girl. Apparently she said she'd love to do one for MS. Let's hope she will.🙏🏻
AND, I need MNEK to produce and write more for her!

I might be one of the few that enjoyed her previous two albums too, lol. Poster Girl is better than Venus, especially with the bonus tracks and deleting some of the songs that don't fit with the overall dance sound of the record. Venus was cohesive, it doesn't have as many hits songs on it but still pretty easy to listen to.

This new album is even better than those two because there's no skips. 10 bops and 10 tracks worth of listening.

    1. Midnight Sun: HYMN. Nothing else to say. 10
    2. Blue Moon: I would release this next, in late October or even beginning of 2026. Super great track with an amazing chorus. 10
    3. Pretty Ugly: Amazing first single, a shame it was so misunderstood. 8,5
    4. Girls's Girl: Right now it's the one I like the least, but still pretty decent and I think it might be a grower. 7
    5. Crush: It gets better with every listening but I wouldn't have released this as promo single. It's a cute track anyway. 8
    6. Eurosummer: This should be a single on April. Such a HIT, should be sounding everywhere next Summer but it won't happen. 10
    7. Hot & Sexy: A hot track and potential single. I don't like the dance break, too noisy, but still a bop. 9
    8. The Ambition: I truly love this cute mid tempo song. I don't get why some don't like it. I think it's placed perfectly here. 8,5
    9. Saturn Returns: The most experimental song on the album. Not single worthy though, but still a strong track. 9
    10. Puss Puss: Such a great closing track. It's very fun and catchy and really puts you in the mood for another go. 10

84 at metacritic with 6 reviews, wow, she's never been there before. And the users gave this 7.6 (1,200 reviews), really high comparing it with Venus (5.7) and Poster Girl (6.2).

I'm still not sure this is her best one though, Poster Girl was truly great, especially when you delete the worst songs and add the bonus tracks: Don't worry 'bout me, All the time, Morning and Last Summer. It's a non stop bop album that way. Venus was cohesive, the only one I dislike is "Nothing" really, it doesn't have as many hits but still pretty decent.

Title track is still a bop, ofc.
Pretty Ugly is underrated. It rly grew on me during summer.
    Crush... the drop is nice!!
Had very high hopes for Euro Summer... I like the verses but... then it has too much of an Eurovision Song Contest feeling to it.... not my fav type of vibe at all.💀

I think I need more time with the songs. But for now my fav is prob H&S!

I'm happy to hear  that so many ppl feel satisfied about the album though. Bcs I've been loving and stanning Zara since 2016 and I SO wish for her to finally get her well deserved, way long over due flowers!

    Album Ranking (those I've heard)

    4. Singular Act: I actually MUCH prefer Act II than I but still, pretty good basic pop. 7/10.
    3. Man's Best Friend: I love the album, it's not as good as the others but still super solid, no skips. I just hope the next one has more bangers and standouts and that is more R&B and disco oriented. 8,5/10
    2. Short and Sweet: It was super fresh. The standard album as a whole is maybe worse than Man's Best Friend, it has more ups and downs and it is not as consistent. BUT the highlights are amazing and if I skip the ones I like the least (Coincidence and Lie to girls) and add the deluxe tracks I love (Busy Woman and Needless to say) and is almost perfect. 9/10.
    1. Emails I can't send: She is like putting her last two albums on top and barely speaks of this one. I get why she does it but this album is just perfection. Lovely lyrics, super cohesive, her voice sounds her best yet and there's simply no skips. 10/10.

Agreed. It's the one who grew the most in me since release. I think on first listenings it was placed at #9 in my ranking and now is #6.
